Apple Studio Display 2 to Pack an A19 Chip, Come with ProMotion and HD
Apple is preparing to update its Studio Display lineup in 2026 with the new Studio Display 2. Targeted squarely at creators, photography professionals, and video production crews, the new Studio Display 2 will be designed to ideally go with Mac Studio and Mac Pro workstations. Studio Display 2 surfaced in a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who identified code in an iOS 26 build pointing to display "J527" as confirmation of a new Studio Display. Perhaps the biggest reveal from the code is that Studio Display 2 will come with ProMotion, and variable refresh rate. It will support a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, up from the current 60 Hz of Studio Display.
The current Studio Display isn't just limited to 60 Hz, but also only has standard dynamic range (SDR). Studio Display 2 is expected to introduce HDR support, leveraging Mini LED technology. This would be similar to the latest MacBook Pro display offering ProMotion and HDR with up to 1,000 nits brightness using Mini LED illumination for sustained lighting, and an impressive 1,600 nits for HDR. Apple will likely use the latest display tech to offer a feature-packed HDR implementation for content professionals.

ASUS Intros Pro WS B850M-ACE SE Motherboard with IPMI for Home and SMB
ASUS introduced the Pro WS B850M-ACE SE, an AMD Socket AM5 motherboard in the microATX form-factor that's laid out like a server motherboard, but targets a range of consumers spanning from home and small-business servers, to workstations with storage-heavy loadouts. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX, and 8+4 pin EPS. It supports the entire range of consumer Ryzen and commercial Ryzen PRO desktop processors from the Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 series. It also supports EPYC 4005 series server processors in the AM5 package. The board also supports ECC DDR5 unbuffered memory, with support for up to 256 GB of dual-channel (4 sub-channel) DDR5-5600 memory.
Among its use case-specific features are IPMI, U.2, and PCIe Gen 4 MCIO NVMe interfaces. The IPMI is driven by an ASPEED AST2600 chip that includes ASUS Control Center Express IT management software. Storage options include two M.2-2280 slots each with PCI-Express 5.0 x4 wiring, a PCIe Gen 4 MCIO, a U.2 Gen 3, and four SATA 6 Gbps ports. There's also an internal microSD slot for software key storage. There are three wired LAN interfaces—a 10 GbE driven by a Realtek RTL8127 PHY, a 2.5 GbE driven by Intel i225 series controller, and a third 1 GbE interface for the IPMI controller. USB interfaces include two 10 Gbps USB-C ports on the rear panel, a 20 Gbps USB-C header, three 10 Gbps USB type-A, an internal type-A, and additional 5 Gbps ports via headers. Display outputs include HDMI and DisplayPort from the iGPU, and a D-Sub from the IPMI chip. The board is expected to be priced around the $400 mark.

Thermaltake Intros TH-S V3 ARGB Sync AIO CPU Coolers
Thermaltake today introduced the TH-S V3 ARGB Sync, a line of mid-range all-in-one, liquid CPU coolers. The cooler comes in black and white color trims, and in radiator size-based variants of 240 mm and 360 mm for each. These coolers are characterized by a simple segment LED display that puts out CPU temperature, usage average, clock speed, and power draw values. It pulls these values by interfacing with software over USB, which in turn gets them from ACPI.
The display is framed by an ARGB light strip that illuminates the CPU socket area. The included 120 mm fans come with ARGB lighting of their own. Both the CPU block and fan lighting is controlled using the same TT RGB Plus software that sends ACPI readings to the segment display. The pump-block comes with a speed range of 800 to 2,500 RPM. Meanwhile, the included 120 mm fans turn at speeds ranging between 500 and 2,500 RPM, pushing up to 85.29 CFM of airflow at 3.86 mm H₂O static pressure, and maximum noise output of 37.8 dBA. The company didn't reveal pricing or availability information.

GIGABYTE Releases Four New AMD Socket AM4 Motherboards
GIGABYTE just released four new AMD Socket AM4 motherboard models as gamers seek out older PC platforms supporting DDR4 memory that's available at more affordable prices. This aligns with our recent report that talks about how acute shortage of DDR5 memory is driving consumers to older platforms with DDR4, such as AMD Socket AM4, and Intel LGA1700. AMD has been releasing new Ryzen 5000 series processor models throughout these past few years even with the advent of the DDR5-exclusive Socket AM5, meanwhile, Intel's 12th Gen through 14th Gen Core desktop processors support DDR4, and there are motherboards based on Intel 600 series and 700 series chipset with DDR4 slots.
Among the motherboards released by GIGABYTE are the A520M H ARGB, the B550I AORUS Pro AX 1.4, B550M H ARGB, and A520I AC 1.5. These are all based on entry or midsegment chipset models. The A520M H ARGB comes with a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot, HDMI display output, and supports all Socket AM4 processors out of the box. The B550I AORUS Pro AX 1.4 is a premium Mini-ITX board based on B550, with PCI-Express 4.0 x16, and a modern Wi-Fi 6E WLAN solution. The B550M H ARGB is essentially the same board as A520M H ARGB, but with B550 and PCI-Express Gen 4 for the PEG and M.2 slots. The A520I AC 1.5 is an interesting entry-level Mini-ITX board with Gen 3 PCIe and older Wi-Fi 5 (AC) WLAN.
