Logitech International today announced financial results for the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2025. "We're excited to deliver strong, profitable growth once again, in our biggest quarter of the year," said Hanneke Faber, Logitech chief executive officer. "Our growth was driven by our strategic priorities. We delivered superior innovation. Gaming sales were near pandemic-high levels, thanks to an outstanding set of innovations launched ahead of the holidays. We delivered near record sales in our premium Pro Gaming and MX portfolios. Logitech for Business made excellent progress. And our teams fielded effective marketing campaigns and excellent holiday retail execution to drive broad-based geographic progress."

"Q3 marks another disciplined quarter," said Matteo Anversa, Logitech chief financial officer. Thumbs up Planned Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition DLC Canceled

World's Edge shared plans in February 2024 to launch a DLC for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition before the year ended. But come October, they pushed back the expansion's release to a "future date" with no set timeline. The studio has now scrapped the project, as they announced yesterday. The company hadn't shared much about the DLC's contents, production director Earnest Yuen had hinted at one point that it would add two new civilizations that players often asked for.

Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition last saw an expansion in May 2022 with Knights of the Mediterranean. Now that this new DLC isn't happening, the game looks to be entering a phase of upkeep. World's Edge hasn't ruled out new content, but they'll focus on keeping servers running, rotating free trial civilizations, and helping customers. "Whilst we will not be moving forwards with this DLC content for Age III: DE, we will continue to maintain servers, rotate civs through the free trial version, and provide Customer Support for any issues you may encounter whilst playing."

Thumbs up AMD Details DeepSeek R1 Performance on Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Confirms Ry

AMD today put out detailed guides on how to get DeepSeek R1 distilled reasoning models to run on Radeon RX graphics cards and Ryzen AI processors. The guide confirms that the new Ryzen AI Max "Strix Halo" processors come in hardwired to LPCAMM2 memory configurations of 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB, and there won't be a 16 GB memory option for notebook manufacturers to cheap out with. The guide goes on to explain that "Strix Halo" will be able to locally accelerate DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama with 70 billion parameters on the 64 GB and 128 GB memory configurations of "Strix Halo" powered notebooks, while the 32 GB model should be able to run DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-32B. Ryzen AI "Strix Point" mobile processors should be capable of running DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-14B and DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama-14B on their RDNA 3.5 iGPUs and NPUs. Meanwhile, older generation processors based on "Phoenix Point" and "Hawk Point" chips should be capable of DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama-14B. The company recommends running all of the above distills in Q4 K M quantization.

Switching gears to the discrete graphics cards, and AMD is only recommending its Radeon RX 7000 series for now, since the RDNA 3 graphics architecture introduces AI accelerators. The flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX is recommended for DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-32B distill, while all SKUs with 12 GB to 20 GB of memory—that's RX 7600 XT, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, RX 7900 GRE, and RX 7900 XT, are recommended till DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-14B. The mainstream RX 7600 with its 8 GB memory is only recommended till DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama-8B. You will need LM Studio 0.3.8 or later and Radeon Software Adrenalin 25.1.1 beta or later drivers. AMD put out first party LMStudio 0.3.8 tokens/second performance numbers for the RX 7900 XTX, comparing it with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER and the RTX 4090.

Thumbs up (PR) Exogate Initiative Version 1.0 Out Now

Greetings Gaters! This is it, the full release version of Exogate Initiative is finally here! Build and manage mankind's first mission across the universe! Create a sprawling facility underground, recruit a diverse group of specialists from around the globe and explore mysterious new worlds through the Exogate.

    The biggest update yet
We were also able to add one more thing at the last minute, and it was the most requested feature by the players—you'll now have access to a new tech that allows more gaters to cross the gate at any time. Meaning you can form teams of 4 or 5 gaters! We are extremely proud of what was accomplished by such a small team. It started as a solo project a long time ago, and in the end 24 talented people contributed one way or another to make this game, but on average only 2 were working on it full-time! We'd like to address a special thanks to the community that helped us shape the game all along the early access, your feedback was always precious and led to some major changes that ultimately made the game far better.

Thumbs up Reports Suggest DeepSeek Running Inference on Huawei Ascend 910C AI GP

Huawei's Ascend 910C AI chip was positioned as one of the better Chinese-developed alternatives to NVIDIA's H100 accelerator—reports from last autumn suggested that samples were being sent to highly important customers. The likes of Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent have long relied on Team Green enterprise hardware for all manner of AI crunching, but trade sanctions have severely limited the supply and potency of Western-developed AI chips. NVIDIA's region-specific B20 "Blackwell" accelerator is due for release this year, but industry watchdogs reckon that the Ascend 910C AI GPU is a strong rival. The latest online rumblings have pointed to another major Huawei customer—DeepSeek—having Ascend silicon in their back pockets.

DeepSeek's recent unveiling of its R1 open-source large language model has disrupted international AI markets. A lot of press attention has focused on DeepSeek's CEO stating that his team can access up to 50,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs, but many have not looked into the company's (alleged) pool of natively-made chips. Yesterday, Alexander Doria—an LLM enthusiast—shared an interesting insight: "I feel this should be a much bigger story—DeepSeek has trained on NVIDIA H800, but is running inference on the new home Chinese chips made by Huawei, the 910C." Experts believe that there will be a plentiful supply of Ascend 910C GPUs—estimates from last September posit that 70,000 chips (worth around $2 billion) were in the mass production pipeline. Additionally, industry whispers suggest that Huawei is already working on a—presumably, even more powerful—successor.

Thumbs up Edward Snowden Lashes Out at NVIDIA Over GeForce RTX 50 Pricing And Va

It's not every day that we witness a famous NSA whistleblower voice their disappointment over modern gaming hardware. Edward Snowden, who likely needs no introduction, did not bother to hold back his disapproval of NVIDIA's recently launched RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 gaming GPUs. The reviews for the RTX 5090 have been mostly positive, although the same cannot be said for its affordable sibling, the RTX 5080. Snowden, voicing his thoughts on Twitter, claimed that NVIDIA is selling "F-tier value for S-tier prices".

Needless to say, there is no doubt that the RTX 5090's pricing is quite exorbitant, regardless of how anyone puts it. Snowden was particularly displeased with the amount of VRAM on offer, which is also hard to argue against. The RTX 5080 ships with "only" 16 GB of VRAM, whereas Snowden believes that it should have shipped with at least 24, or even 32 GB. He further adds that the RTX 5090, which ships with a whopping 32 GB of VRAM, should have been available with a 48 GB variant. As for the RTX 5070, the security consultant expressed desire for at least 16 GB of VRAM (instead of 12 GB).

Thumbs up Nintendo GameCube "Space World" Prototype Listed on Ebay, Owner Seeks

Nintendo fans will be looking forward to the release of Switch Part Deux in the coming months, but a certain subset prefer to look back into the past with great fondness. Retro gaming connoisseurs have a soft spot for often unsung older hardware—the Nintendo GameCube home console is a prime example. Hardcore collectors have spent countless hours in search of special editions, unusual color variants, developer kits and prototypes. Donny Fillerup—founder and owner of Consolevariations—hit the jackpot around mid-2023; he managed to track down an extremely rare demonstration model. "Space World" units are highly-coveted—only a handful still exist—due to unique origins. Nintendo officially introduced its GameCube console at Space World 2000—a first-party-oriented annual trade show (defunct since 2001).

Vintage console curators believe that Nintendo repurposed many of its initial batch of "Space World" prototypes, but a few examples have escaped into the wild. Fillerup's ownership of a "one-of-a-kind legendary" indigo sample is seemingly coming to an end—mid-week, gaming press outlets received tip-offs regarding an eBay auction (de-listed at the time of writing). The Consolevariations boss is engaged in fundraising endeavors—according to the item's description, he wants to turn his hobby into: "a foundation business. A Gaming place where the entire family can enjoy, people can meet other people, talk with people who feel uncomfortable with other people, and make the visitors feel young again." Fillerup's asking price was $100,000, with a required $1 fee for economy-class shipping. His prized-possession sports some "battle damage" and is completely non-functional—a Consolevariations blog entry does an effective job of showcasing the "ins and outs" of this "First Announcement Model." The eBay listing did not mention any bundling-in of a matching Space World-era controller, another treasured rarity.

Thumbs up NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti Rumored to Launch in March 202

A recently leaked slide from the Taiwanese company Chaintech has seemingly confirmed the launch dates for the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti GPUs. Previous leaks have hinted at an early Q2 launch for the mid-range gaming GPUs, in both 8 GB and 16 GB VRAM flavors. Chaintech's slide does not reveal any specifications regarding the GPUs, although we do have a pretty good idea of what the upcoming GPUs will bring to the table.

As per recent leaks, the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are both expected to sport the GB206 GPU, paired with 8 or 16 GB of VRAM on a 128-bit bus. Despite employing the speedy new GDDR7 standard, there is no denying that 8 GB of VRAM is far from sufficient for a comfortable ray-traced gaming experience in 2025, perhaps even less so in the near future. Considering that the Arc B580 ships with 50% more VRAM, the entry-level RTX 5060 is more than likely to be hard sell for many people, unless, of course, the RTX 5060/Ti somehow pulls off impressive performance uplifts.
