(PR) Seagate Technology Reports Fiscal First Quarter 2024 Financial Results
Seagate Technology Holdings plc, today reported financial results for its fiscal first quarter ended September 29, 2023. "Seagate's first quarter results were in line with our revised expectations. During a longer-than-typical downcycle we have prioritized financial discipline, positive free cash flow generation and execution on our HAMR product roadmap, which will extend our industry leadership in areal density and improve the total cost of ownership for our customers," said Dave Mosley, Seagate's chief executive officer. "With indications that demand fundamentals in certain markets are starting to improve, including a modest uptick in U.S. cloud, Seagate is well positioned to enhance profitability and capture attractive long-term opportunities for Mass Capacity storage."
Quarterly Financial Results
During the fiscal first quarter the Company generated $127 million in cash flow from operations, $57 million in free cash flow, and returned $145 million of capital to shareholders through its quarterly dividend. Additionally, the Company issued $1.5 billion convertible notes due 2028 bearing an interest rate of 3.5% with the proceeds primarily used to retire the outstanding balance on its remaining term loans. As of the end of the quarter, cash and cash equivalents totaled $795 million, and there were 209 million ordinary shares issued and outstanding.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 545.92 WHQL Game Ready Drivers
NVIDIA has released the latest version of its GeForce graphics drivers, GeForce 545.92 WHQL. The new drivers are Game Ready drivers for Alan Wake 2 game which launches tomorrow, October 27th, with support for both NVIDIA ray tracing and DLSS 3.5. It also brings optimizations for Ghost Runner 2. In addition to those optimizations, the new GeForce 545.92 WHQL drivers also bring a fix for VR, where desktop colors turn overexposed after closing a VR app.
As announced, Alan Wake 2 comes with hefty PC system requirements, but, according to NVIDIA, it should run well on its GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards, especially when DLSS is enabled.

(PR) Rambus Boosts AI Performance with 9.6 Gbps HBM3 Memory Controller IP
Rambus Inc., a premier chip and silicon IP provider making data faster and safer, today announced that the Rambus HBM3 Memory Controller IP now delivers up to 9.6 Gigabits per second (Gbps) performance supporting the continued evolution of the HBM3 standard. With a 50% increase over the HBM3 Gen 1 data rate of 6.4 Gbps, the Rambus HBM3 Memory Controller can enable a total memory throughput of over 1.2 Terabytes per second (TB/s) for training of recommender systems, generative AI and other demanding data center workloads.
"HBM3 is the memory of choice for AI/ML training, with large language models requiring the constant advancement of high-performance memory technologies," said Neeraj Paliwal, general manager of Silicon IP at Rambus. "Thanks to Rambus innovation and engineering excellence, we're delivering the industry's leading-edge performance of 9.6 Gbps in our HBM3 Memory Controller IP."
