U.S. Restricts Exports of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 to China
The GeForce RTX 4090 gaming graphics card, both as an NVIDIA first-party Founders Edition, and custom-design by AIC partners, undergoes assembly in China. A new U.S. Government trade regulation restricts NVIDIA from selling it in the Chinese domestic market. The enthusiast-segment graphics card joins several other high performance AI processors, such as the "Hopper" H800, and "Ampere" A800. If you recall, the H800 and A800 are special China-specific variants of the H100 and A100, respectively, which come with performance reductions at the hardware-level, to fly below the AI processor performance limits set by the U.S. Government. The only reasons we can think of why these chips are on the list is if end-users in China have figured out ways around these performance limiters, or are buying in greater scale to achieve the desired performance. The fresh trade embargo released on October 17 covers the A100, A800, H100, H800, L40, L40S, and RTX 4090.

Intel Core i9-14900KF OC Record is Over 9000 MHz
Intel's 14th Gen Core i9-14900K and i9-14900KF are making their mark around the OC community, with the highest validated clock speed record now at 9048 MHz by elmor, and the highest clock speed reached during a live OC session at 9.10 GHz by SkatterBencher. The records were set on the latest crop of Intel Z790 chipset motherboard models that manufacturers launched over the past few week, which were designed keeping the 14th Gen processors in mind. Both the overclocking pros used a core voltage of 1.360 V, and extreme cooling to boot. SkatterBencher used liquid helium to cool the processor for his OC attempt, in which the glorious 9100 MHz frequency was achieved. This speed couldn't be validated as CPUID is working on improving the validation process of CPU-Z to prevent artificially inflated clock speeds, so hopefully we'll see the 9.10 GHz record being validated soon. Until then, elmor is officially on top of the leaderboard with his 9048 MHz feat!

Gigabyte Expands its Range of White Motherboards with Two AMD B650 Models
Just over a month ago, Gigabyte launched a pair of white motherboards for Intel CPUs and now the company has quietly released a pair of white models for AMD CPUs. The two models are the B650 AORUS Elite AX Ice and the B650M AORUS Elite AX Ice, the main difference being the form factor, as the latter is a microATX board. Besides the white PCB, all of the heatsinks are silver/white in colour, although all the connectors on the boards are black, just as with the Intel boards. The rear I/O shield has also been given the white treatment to better fit into a white case.

However, the Ice boards are not identical in terms of specs to their older siblings, as Gigabyte has done a few minor changes that aren't noticeable at first look. Gigabyte has shifted away from using MTK/AMD and Intel WiFi cards and is now using the Realtek RTL8852CE on these new boards. We should mention that Gigabyte are using the RTL8852CE on later revisions of the black versions as well. It's currently unknown when these new boards will be available and how much they'll retail for.
