ASML to Add 600 DUV Machines to China's Semiconductor Manufacturing Capacity by 2025
Thanks to the TMTPost interview with the Global Vice President and China President of ASML, Shen Bo, the Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer has revealed that around 1,400 of its deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography and metrology machines are currently installed in China. The company is expected to achieve a global output of 600 DUV equipment units by the end of 2025. Shen Bo stated that the company aims to install 500-600 units of DUV machinery in China by late 2025 or early 2026. The growth in ASML's Chinese revenues was notably high, with China contributing 46% of the company's system sales in 3Q 2023, representing an 82% revenue increase from the previous quarter.
China plans to build 25 12-inch wafer fabs in the next five years, covering logic wafers, DRAM, and MEMS production. ASML currently has a substantial presence in China, with 16 offices, 12 warehouses, distribution centers, development centers, training centers, and maintenance centers. The company employs over 1,600 people for its China operations. Despite the export restrictions imposed by the US government, ASML anticipates that the new measures will have little impact on its financial outlook for 2023 as it strives to meet the growing demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the global market.

TechPowerUp Selects PNY as Graphics Card Provider for Review Test Systems
TechPowerUp is proud to announce a partnership with PNY, in which PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX graphics cards will power the hardware review test benches featured throughout the site. With a rich history as a key graphics vendor for professionals, PNY has established a longstanding partnership with NVIDIA, serving as a provider of high-end graphics cards and datacenter GPUs. They are also providing memory solutions for professional photographers and creators. More recently the company specialized into gaming graphics with its XLR8 GeForce graphics card series. Over the past two generations, the company has taken product design and development for these cards completely in-house, ensuring that gamers receive top-quality products.
The latest generation of PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards have been extensively tested by TechPowerUp, showcasing exceptional noise levels, low cooler temperatures, ample overclocking potential, efficient power management, and outstanding overall performance. We were so impressed by our first PNY RTX 40-series graphics cards, especially their fan-tuning and thermals, that we decided to incorporate PNY graphics cards as the baseline for our review test beds across the site. Our partnership with PNY will see various models of PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX graphics cards form the VGA component of the test benches, across our review test setups for CPUs, motherboards, cases, memory, SSDs, CPU coolers, and more. However, it's important to note that for graphics card reviews, the baseline values continue to be obtained from reference design graphics cards.

Update 19:31 UTC: Just to clarify, this will not affect our review scoring in any way. We will continue to test AMD-based graphics cards, we will test GPUs from other manufacturers, and we will review every product in the same exact same way like we've done in the past 20 years. We simply needed a bunch of graphics cards for the test systems listed, and PNY was willing to provide them.

Intel Readies Xeon W-2500 Series with 4-channel Memory to Square Off Against Threadripper 7000
The HEDT/workstation segment is heating up, with Intel preparing to launch a new line of low(er) core-count processor models with I/O features competitive to those of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series for the AMD TRX50 platform. The new W-2500 series is designed for the same Intel W790 chipset Socket LGA4677 motherboards as the W-2400 series, but with increased CPU core-counts across the board. The top W-2500 series processor model comes with a 26-core/52-thread core-configuration, 2 MB of dedicated L2 cache per core, and 48.75 MB of shared L3 cache.
Where the Intel Xeon W-2500 series aces over the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 (TRX50), is the platform I/O. While both processors offer a 4-channel DDR5 interface, the Intel chip offers a 64-lane PCI-Express Gen 5 root complex, in comparison to the 48-lane PCIe Gen 5 root complex from the processor. The TRX50 platform itself adds up to 88 PCIe lanes, but only 48 of these are Gen 5. The W-2500 series includes seven processor models, with the lowest model giving you 8-core/16-thread, and the highest one being 26-core/52-thread. Here the Threadripper 7000 TRX50 has a distinct advantage, as it offers core counts of up to 64-core/128-thread.

(PR) Rebound in Mini LED Product Shipments to 13.79 Million Units in 2024, Continued Growth Expected Until 2027
TrendForce's "2024 New Mini LED BLU Display Trend Analysis" report reveals that due to declining demand in consumer electronics, shipments of Mini LED products are expected to decrease to 13.337 million units in 2023. However, the market is projected to rebound in 2024, with shipments estimated at 13.792 million units, and the growth trend is expected to continue through 2027. This decline is part of a larger trend of decreasing prices for Mini LED products, setting the stage for sustained growth in shipments. The report predicts that by 2027, shipments could reach as high as 31.453 million units, with a CAGR of approximately 23.9% from 2023 to 2027.
In the television sector, despite the robust increase in LCD panel prices and the continued high depreciation costs of OLED products, Mini LED component prices are on a downward trend. Now, apart from the relatively small-scale and still early-stage glass-based Mini LEDs, the costs of various other Mini LED TV panels are lower than those of White OLED and QD OLED. Thus, TrendForce maintains that Mini LEDs remain the most effective and optimal solution for enhancing contrast. Against this backdrop, the forecast for Mini LED TVs is positive, with an expected continuous growth in shipment volumes. Shipments are projected to reach 6.21 million units by 2024, marking a 53.5% YoY increase. Moving forward to 2027, shipment volumes are projected to hit 24.4 million units, capturing roughly 12.1% of the overall TV market. The CAGR for this segment from 2023 to 2027 is projected to be around 56.7%.
