Bulgaria Sat to partner with Germany's Media Broadcast Satellite

SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 13 (SeeNews) – Satellite operator Bulgaria Sat said on Wednesday it has reached an agreement to partner with German full-service communications solutions provider Media Broadcast Satellite in expanding the customer base of BulgariaSat-1 satellite.
“We are delighted to partner with Media Broadcast Satellite and are very proud that the company will support the expansion of our business customers’ base using our satellite BulgariaSat-1,” George Skikos, COO of Bulgaria Sat, said in a statement.

BulgariaSat-1, the country's first geostationary communications satellite, reached the Bulgarian orbital position on July 3. On June 23, BulgariaSat-1 was launched from Cape Canaveral aboard a space-proven Falcon 9 rocket provided by SpaceX.
“By adding BulgariaSat-1 to our broadcast and data platforms we extend our service portfolio for our eastern European customers,” Christian Fleischhauer, managing director of Media Broadcast Satellite, said.
Bulgaria Sat, set up in 2011, is 100%-owned by Bulsatcom affiliate Bulgaria Sat Holding. Bulsatcom is a leading telecommunications company and the largest pay-TV service provider in Bulgaria.
Media Broadcast Satellite currently operates a total of 19 DVB-S and DVB-S2 platforms for various national and international customers at its own telecommunications port in Usingen, just outside Frankfurt. As a full-service provider, the company offers broadcasters in EMEA comprehensive services for satellite distribution, which include playout systems, signal contribution, multiplexing, encryption and uplink services.
