Globo TV’s CTO Raymundo Barros had told delegates to MIPtv back in April of the broadcaster’s impressive commitment to 4K/Ultra HD and in its High Dynamic Range format. Now that investment is coming to viewers’ screens.

Dangerous Liaisons is now available to users of Globo’s VOD service, Globo Play, and the broadcaster is promising more.

“The settings and landscapes allowed us to explore the brightest bright and subtle blacks. It’s perfect content to be graded in HDR,” said Barros. “As far as we know, Globo will be the first free-to-air broadcaster which offers 4K HDR on its OTT platform,” he added.

Globo has signed up all of the major TV set manufacturers including Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG and Philips to handle streaming of its content.
