Galaxy A56 and Pixel 9a leak in colorful renders, Week 7 in review
This week, we saw the upcoming Galaxy A56 in different colors. We expect the phone in March and speculate it will pack an Exynos 1580 chip, a 5,000mAh (or perhaps 5,100mAh) battery, 45W charging, and a 12MP camera. While on the topic of unreleased Samsung phones, the Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to weigh less than 160g - that's lighter than the 162g Galaxy S25. Also, Samsung is expected to bring the new silicon-carbon battery tech in the Galaxy S26 next year. Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 - its first 6-series chip on the TSMC 4nm node and with ARMv9 CPU...

Weekly poll: will you buy the OnePlus 13R?
The R-series reminds us of the early days of OnePlus – instead of all-out flagships, phones like the OnePlus 13R dial things down a bit and offer a near-flagship experience at an affordable price. In the case of the 13R, that price is $600/€750/₹43,000. [#InlinePriceWidget,13548,1#] What you get for your money is... actually, let’s look at what you don’t get. Comparing it with the OnePlus 13, several omissions immediately become noticeable – the big ones are the chipset that is a year older, the less capable camera system, the lack of wireless charging and the lower water resistance...

Oppo Find N5 debuts as the slimmest foldable yet
The race to launch the slimmest foldable continues and Oppo just got in the lead. We've seen plenty of phones that employed innovative designs and reorganized internal structures to reach bar phone territory and the Oppo Find N5 is the slimmest offering to date. Coming in as the highly anticipated successor to the Find N3, the N5 builds on top of it in almost every meaningful way, starting with the design. At 4.21mm in its unfolded state, the Find N5 is barely thicker than the USB-C port, and 8.93mm when folded back up, Find N5 takes the crown as the slimmest book-style foldable...

Here are the official Apple iPhone 16e cases
Apple introduced the iPhone 16e yesterday and launched a new line of official cases alongside it. These cases come in five colors: Lake Green, Fuchsia, Winter Blue, White, and Black, and they are made from silicone. Apple iPhone 16e cases None of the cases include MagSafe since the iPhone 16e lacks the magnetic wireless charging support, relying instead on standard Qi charging, which should still function through the silicone material. Apple said the case is made with a 55% recycled silicone material and it has a "silky soft-touch finish on the exterior," while the inside is...

vivo Y29 gets a 4G version with a bigger battery
The vivo Y29 was announced in the final days of 2024 with a 5G chipset and a 5,500 mAh battery. Now the phone gets a second version with an LTE-only chip and a bigger cell that's already on sale Bangladesh. The vivo Y29 4G keeps the 6.68" LCD with a 720p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a Schott protective glass on top, and the company claimed it increases drop resistance by 64%, compared to a last-gen cover glass. The SoC is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 because Bangladesh has yet to adopt 5G networks. It makes no sense to bring a next-generation connectivity smartphone if...

iPhone 16e has a binned A18 chip
The brand-new iPhone 16e is the fourth and least expensive member of the iPhone 16 series. Reaching the $599/€699/£599 starting price required some resourcefulness, and it’s now confirmed that the A18 chip inside the 16e is not on par with the one used in the regular iPhone 16. As per the official specs from Apple, the 16e’s A18 chip features a 6-core CPU (2 performance and 4 efficiency) alongside a 4-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. While the CPU and Neural core count is the same as the regular A18 chip, the GPU on the 16e gets one less core. This is not likely to be a noticeable...

Google brings Circle to Search to Chrome and the Google app on iOS
Google is bringing Circle to Search to Chrome and the Google app on iOS, but it isn't calling it that for whatever reason. Instead, it's "Search Screen with Google Lens". This will show up as an option in the three-dot menu in both Chrome for iOS and the Google app for iOS. Once you select it, you'll be able to use "whatever gesture comes naturally". Examples include "drawing, highlighting, or tapping". The main caveat here, and the main differentiator compared to Android's Circle to Search, is that you're limited to Chrome and the Google app. You can't use this system-wide on iOS,...

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge's back panel will be different
Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge at its Unpacked event last month, and various rumors have claimed the device would launch around April. Ahead of that, today a new report tells us what to expect from it in terms of materials used. The frame will be aluminum, apparently, which isn't that much of a surprise, but the back won't be glass. It won't be plastic either. Instead, it will allegedly be ceramic, "for better durability". That's interesting because while ceramic is much more scratch resistant than glass, it's also more brittle. And heavier. That said, it's unclear if Samsung...

Deals: iPhone 16e goes on pre-order, here are some alternatives
The iPhone SE is dead, long live the iPhone e! Okay, this may be an unfortunate development for some of you as the SE was the smallest iPhone and it was by far the cheapest. What now? The Apple iPhone 16e is the same size as the 16 and it is almost as expensive – it starts at £600/$600/€700/₹60,000 for a 128GB model. There are 256GB and 512GB options too, but those storage upgrades follow the same pattern as upgrades on Apple’s more premium phones. Pre-orders for the 16e started this Friday, sales will commence on Friday next week. Long story short, the 16e has a binned A18 chipset...

Weekly poll: who is interested in the new Apple iPhone 16e?
This week saw the hotly-anticipated launch of the new iOS mid-ranger – though with a new starting price of $600/€700/ £600/₹60,000 (128GB storage), “mid-ranger” no longer sounds true. To be fair, this isn’t a new iPhone SE (the last one started at $430 for a 64GB phone). Apple iPhone 16e This is the Apple iPhone 16e. It’s iPhone 16 hardware – a binned Apple A18 chip and just the 48MP main camera from the back – stuffed inside an iPhone 14-style body and using the same 6.1” 60Hz OLED display with a notched Face ID (Touch ID is gone from the phone). The iPhone SE (2022) is...

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max
Out of lockstep by a few months as always, the ultimate Galaxy and the best iPhone ever meet again. The S25 Ultra is low on dramatic changes, the 16 Pro Max was a polishing job itself - perhaps we've reached a point where we need to focus on and appreciate the little upgrades. That's a topic for a different time though - now, let's compare the current top models from the two archrivals. Table of Contents: Design Display Battery Life Charging Speaker Test Performance Cameras Verdict For starters, you can compare the complete specs sheets or directly continue...
