Default Samsung Galaxy A56 is in the works with huge performance boost

Samsung has started working on the Galaxy A56 months ago, presumably, but it's only now that we get our first proof of the matter via a listing in an IMEI database. The Galaxy A56 appears with its model number SM-A566B/DS. For reference, an A55 variation had the model number SM-A556B/DS, so things are clear here.Interestingly, Samsung's Exynos 1580 chipset, which should be at the helm of the Galaxy A56 when it launches, will bring a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor. In fact, according to a Geekbench run from July, the Exynos 1580 is around the performance...

Default Android 15 release date leaks

Google has already sent the Android 15 code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but it hasn't released an update for its supported Pixels yet. That has been rumored to arrive next month, and today we finally have a purported release date.According to a new report, Google will start the over-the-air rollout of the Android 15 update for Pixels on October 15. This report also comes with the caveat that things could still change from now until then, especially if some show-stopping bugs are found in the meantime.Android 15 will be available for the Pixel 6 and newer devices....

Default Samsung halts One UI 6.1.1 rollout for the Galaxy S23 Ultra

On Monday Samsung started pushing the update to One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S23 family in Europe, India, and other markets. Today the company has suspended the rollout for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The reason is a bug that is causing ghosting in pictures captured at zoom levels between 16x and 19.9x. This issue doesn't affect any other phones, so only the rollout for the S23 Ultra was halted. The company is currently working on addressing the issue. Once it's done that, it will re-release the update with it fixed. Right now it's unclear how long this will take, but hopefully it won't be more...

Default EU court finds Qualcomm guilty of predatory pricing

The EU's second highest court confirmed an earlier verdict and found Qualcomm guilty of what is known as predatory pricing. However, the court reduced the fine from €242 million to €238.7 million. The case concerns Qualcomm's contract with British software maker Icera, which is now part of Nvidia. Between 2009 and 2011, Qualcomm sold chips below cost. This practice aims to exclude other competitors from the potential deal.Qualcomm has put forward numerous appeals, including one that claims the Qualcomm-Icera deal accounted for just 0.7% of the Universal Mobile Telecommunications...

Default Weekly poll results: it's a bad start for the iPhone 16 series as peop

Things aren’t going the way Apple was hoping. Before September, analysts reported that Apple would be building more iPhone 16 phones, mostly upping the number of Pro models produced. Now that the first week of pre-orders is done, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo compiled data that shows that pre-orders are down and it’s mostly the fault of the two Pro models (the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus numbers actually went up!).Let’s look at the results from last week’s poll to try and figure out what went wrong. Apple didn’t increase the prices, which was great to see. The higher charge rates over USB-C and MagSafe...

Default Here's how fast the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will charge

Samsung's Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are expected to be unveiled in January, and they are currently on a very slow march through various regulatory authorities across the world, receiving certifications. The 3C certification in China has today revealed a pretty disappointing fact. Both of these phones will have the exact same maximum charging levels as their predecessors. So, the Galaxy S25 will charge at up to 25W, while the Galaxy S25+ will go up to 45W. That's via USB-C, of course. Wireless charging speed isn't revealed through the 3C certification unfortunately, so we'll have to...

Default Apple iPhone 16 Pro in for review

Ever since Apple made its first big iPhone in 2014 (happy anniversary, iPhone 6 Plus), the smaller Pro model has been sitting in its shadow. Most years saw a specs disparity with the Pro Max model getting some form of advantage - like the 5x zoom camera, which was only offered on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.This year, on the other hand, the smaller Pro shines alongside its bigger counterpart. Size aside, this is every bit a Pro iPhone as the Pro Max. They even share the same two-accessory retail box - you get a braided USB-C cable and a SIM tool.So what's new? The iPhone 16 Pro has a...

Default Deals: Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S24 offers

Pre-orders for the new iPhone 16 series started Friday last week and this Friday the new Apple phones went on sale. The big question now is should you buy one? And if not, what then? Last week we focused on refurbished iPhones as an alternative. This week we will focus on what the Android world has to offer. We start with Google. The Pixel 9 has a 6.3” OLED display, not an LTPO, but it does run at 120Hz (making the iPhone 16’s 60Hz display look ancient). The Tensor G4 is no match for the Apple A18 in general performance, but it handles Google’s AI features just fine – and those AI features...
