Default iPhone 16 and 16 Plus get powerful A18 chipset, keep the old screens

As you can imagine, AI was a major part of tonight’s Apple event – and the new iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are designed for the computational demands of Apple Intelligence (that’s what Cupertino calls its AI) with a new 3nm chipset. The Action and the Camera Control will change how you interact with your iPhone too, these are design elements shared with the Pro.Let’s start with the display. The panels are the same size as before, 6.1” for the iPhone 16 and 6.7” for the iPhone 16 Plus, which makes them 0.2” smaller than the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, respectively. They still run at 60Hz (no...

Default iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max announced as Apple Intelligence powerhouses

The new Pros are here. Apple's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max sport the A18 Pro chip, the Camera Control, and "a huge leap in battery life", Apple claims. There's a new main camera too, a new ultrawide, and a 5x telephoto on the 'vanilla' Pro. The titanium design remains, and Apple is advertising the thinnest bezels ever on any product it's ever made. This should be interesting. The two Pro iPhone 16s will be available in black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium. Pre-orders will start on September 13, and they will become available on September 20 for $999...

Default Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to have upgraded ultrawide camera only

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra is only expected to launch in January, but it's been in the rumors a lot recently. Today, from Chinese leakster Ice Universe comes word that the device will ship with an upgraded ultrawide camera.According to him, the S25 Ultra will have a 50 MP ultrawide using the Samsung ISOCELL JN3 sensor, with 0.7um pixel size. That's the good news. The bad news is that Ice Universe says this will be the only camera that's getting an upgrade. All the others remain unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This contradicts a rumor from May which claimed the 3x telephoto would be...

Default Apple introduces its new A18 and A18 Pro chipsets, powering the latest

This year Apple introduced not one, but two entirely new chipsets - the A18 and A18 Pro. This is also the first time the vanilla iPhone models, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus in particular, get a recent chipset, not a year-old one. Perhaps the main reason is to enable the high-demanding AI-related tasks and features under the Apple Intelligence umbrella. They weren't available on the A16 Bionic. As the names suggest, the A18 Pro powers up the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, while the non-Pro A18 is at the heart of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. Let's start with the A18 Pro.Apple A18...

Default Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro leak in official-looking renders showing all co

Xiaomi is announcing the 14T and 14T Pro on September 26, the company confirmed today. And mere hours later, a full set of leaked renders has emerged for both devices. These show the Xiaomi 14T in four colors, and the 14T Pro in three. As you can see from the renders, the Leica branding is still present and very prominently applied to the camera housing on the back. Xiaomi 14T leaked renders The camera island itself is a rectangularly shaped one in the top left of the rear. Both handsets have three cameras, while the fourth 'ring' is for the LED flash array. Neither seems...

    Default Apple's AirPods 4 don't even ship with a USB-C charging cable

Apple has, a few years ago, stopped shipping charging adapters with its phones, starting a trend that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Now, it has boldly removed yet another thing cluttering its boxes: the charging cable. The newly announced AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (what a name!) do not have even a cable in the box, let alone a charger. This information is official and has been confirmed by Apple itself through its spec page for the new earbuds. So, we're left wondering what's next. Will the AirPods 6 spec page say "Charging Case (USB-C) sold...

Default Chrome now lets you easily get rid of those annoying site notification

You know how, despite promising yourself years ago that you'd never ever do it again, you keep tapping on Yes when websites ask to send you notifications? If so, then you're surely aware of how annoying it is to have your notifications cluttered up by random ones from random websites. Thankfully, Google Chrome has a solution - instant unsubscribe, in the notification itself. This is launching first on Pixels but is promised to land on more Android devices "soon", and it will offer an Unsubscribe option right inside the notification. Tap that and you're done - at least with that specific...

Default AirPods Pro 2 just became the best value hearing aids on the market

On Monday at its grand launch event, Apple announced a new Hearing Aid mode coming to the AirPods Pro 2 as a software update. This feature has now been authorized by the FDA, paving the way for its rollout. This will make the AirPods Pro 2 among the cheapest hearing aids on the market, dedicated or not - and they're also very good earbuds for playing music and listening to other media on top of that. Apple's Hearing Aid function will either use a hearing test that is performed on the spot using your AirPods Pro 2 and your iPhone, or an audiogram from a hearing health...

Default Plot twist - Samsung Galaxy S24 FE won't be as expensive as previously

A couple of days ago a report claimed the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 FE would be €100 more expensive than its predecessor in Europe. Today we have a new rumor from another source, saying that while there will be a price hike compared to the S23 FE, it won't be as huge. So, instead of €799 for the 8/128GB version, we're now down to €749. That's still €50 more than what the 8/128GB S23 FE launched at, but perhaps a smaller price increase is more palatable? The 8/256GB iteration of the S24 FE now also has a rumored price, and it's €809. The phone's four colorways are also named in...

Default Mark your calendars, Xiaomi 14T series launch date confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed the launch date for its 14T series smartphones. Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro are scheduled to launch globally on September 26. Xiaomi is continuing its strategic partnership with Leica. Both new phones will be co-engineered with Leica lenses and color optimizations just like last year’s Xiaomi 13T series devices. Xiaomi also confirmed “cinematic artistry and humanistic photography” hinting at new additions to the Leica color profiles. The launch page has the silhouettes of the new devices which appear to have flat frames and square camera islands that line up with...

Default Samey Samsung Galaxy S25 leaks in first renders

A couple of days ago the first leaked CAD-based renders of the Galaxy S25 Ultra showed up, and today the 'vanilla' Galaxy S25 has received the exact same treatment. The upcoming phone is expected to be marginally smaller than its predecessor in all dimensions. It will measure 146.9 x 70.4 x 7.2 mm, compared to 147 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm. The S25 will be quite similar, design-wise, to the S24, but it will come with smaller bezels (if these renders are accurate) and rings for the cameras on the back. The flat sides are here to stay, apparently - at least until Apple decides to introduce...
