(PR) Notebook Shipments for 1Q23 Are Projected Reach 10-Year Low for First-Quarter Result, Says TrendForce
Due to the various major events that affected the global economy and politics, the overall demand for consumer electronics made a sharp downward turn in 2022, and global shipments of notebook (laptop) computers began to fall over the quarters. TrendForce's latest analysis finds that global shipments of notebook computers (from ODMs) reached just around 186 million units for 2022, showing a YoY drop of 24.5%. As for 2023, the outlook on the performance of the notebook computer market remains uncertain at this moment. TrendForce expects the YoY decline to moderate to about 7.8%, but shipments are projected to total only 171 million units.
Because market demand was anemic in 4Q22, promotional activities related to the traditional year-end peak season did not generate a lot of sales momentum. Looking at regional markets, notebook brands (PC OEMs) slashed prices in the US and China, but their sales results still did not meet expectations. This development was mainly attributed to factors such as high inflation suppressing consumers' disposable income. Since the sales results for 4Q22 were lackluster, efforts to get rid of the existing stockpile of whole devices might continue through 2Q23. Furthermore, order placements from channels are going to be much more restrained.

(PR) Alphacool Released Water Blocks for Radeon RX 7900 series and RTX 4080
Even more performance for RTX 4080 Suprim/Strix and RX 7900XT (X) GPUs! Alphacool presents new and innovative solutions for active water cooling of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4080 as well as AMD Radeon RX 7900XT (X) graphics cards with the Eisblock Aurora coolers.
In order to dissipate the enormous waste heat of the new graphics card generations in the best possible way, numerous optimizations were implemented on the water cooler compared to the previous models of these coolers. The fin structure has been modified and allows an optimal water flow while increasing the cooling surface. The modified jet plate with improved inflow engine ensures the best possible distribution of water on the cooling fins. The fully chrome-plated copper base is resistant to acids, scratches and damage. In addition, the chrome plating provides homogeneity and shine that cannot be achieved by nickel plating.

(PR) Antec Rolls Out P20C and P20CE Mid-tower Cases
With a massive mesh front and metal panel design and flexible configuration options, Antec Inc. presents the latest two additions to the Antec Performance Series: the P20C (with glass side panel) and the P20CE (with sound-dampening side panel). Both versions are now commercially available from 124,99€ (suggested retail price including VAT).
The P20C / P20CE allows limitless possibilities for building a show case. The new flagship is ready to provide users with a more flexible layout as it features seven reusable PCI-E slots for vertical GPU installation. By supporting dual CPU motherboards with a width of up to 330 mm, the P20C / P20CE is the evolution of compatibility. The new chassis adopts a unique metal design, providing a massive airflow. With the full-size dust filter, the case reaches the balance between cooling and easy maintenance. The pin-type metal front panel is effortlessly removable, and the clip-on dust filters make the cleaning process a walk in the park.

Intel "Lunar Lake" a Ground-Up Architecture Designed to Dominate the 15W Segment
Intel faces its stiffest long-term challenge not from AMD in the client desktop and server segments, but from the likes of Apple and Qualcomm in the ultraportable notebook SoC market. The company is looking to meet the challenge head-on with not just its current Hybrid architecture-based "Rocket Lake-U" processors, but the upcoming "Meteor Lake" and "Arrow Lake" architectures, which disaggregate the processor into chiplets build on various foundry nodes, including ones that are external to Intel. The move here is to keep Intel ahead of the curve with Moore's Law buckling. The real ace up Intel's sleeves is "Lunar Lake."
Slated for "beyond 2024" (which could mean 2025 or later), "Lunar Lake" is reportedly a fresh ground-up design for not just the SoC, but also the CPU microarchitecture, with a design focus on performance/Watt, and a focus on mobile devices. This, according to a statement to Dr Ian Cutress. Intel has already brought Hybrid CPU cores to the PC, and with Arm partners loading their SoCs with three or more kinds of CPU cores; Intel could possibly give "Lunar Lake" even more [kinds of] Hybrid processing capabilities. Another hint on the direction in which Intel is heading comes from unlikely quarters—"Sapphire Rapids." Intel's latest enterprise processors attempt to overcome the CPU core-count deficit to AMD, by incorporating various on-die accelerators—these are fixed-function hardware that accelerate specific kinds of enterprise workloads. Intel could give us another lick about "Lunar Lake" in its January 26 Q4-2022 Financial Disclosures Day.

(PR) EK-Quantum Velocity² Water Blocks for LGA1700 get an ILM Replacement (Contact Frame)
EK, the premium liquid cooling gear manufacturer, is releasing the EK-Quantum Velocity² ILM Replacement - 1700, a product that replaces the motherboard's Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) with a frame that bolsters the structural rigidity of the socket, motherboard, and even the CPU. It is used for cooling 12th and 13th generation Intel Core CPUs with regular EK-Quantum Vector² CPU water blocks, not Direct Die models.
Due to the rectangular and elongated design of these CPUs and the way the stock ILM holds the CPU down, the Intel 12th and 13th-gen CPUs are prone to warping caused by uneven pressure. The new contact frame from EK mitigates this issue as it prevents any warping or bending of the CPU and its surrounding area. This improves the cooling efficiency due to more even pressure applied on the CPU. As a result, the bending is removed and the CPU's center that contains the heat source is no longer concave, enabling improved contact with the cooler.

MSI Announces GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X Classic—Reuses RTX 30-series SUPRIM X Cooler
MSI quietly rolled out the GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X Classic. Positioned alongside its air-cooled flagship graphics card, the RTX 4090 SUPRIM X, the new SUPRIM X Classic appears to be reusing the older version of MSI's SUPRIM X cooling solution that the company shipped with RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics cards, such as the RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X. The older cooler should capable of handling the thermal loads of the RTX 4090, as it has much lower power-draw than the RTX 3090 Ti. This isn't the only "Classic" graphics card from MSI, with the company planning Radeon RX 7900 series Gaming X Classic graphics cards that reuse the Tri Frozr III cooling solution that the company used with its RX 6900 series Gaming X products. Besides the cooler and product-design there don't appear to be any other difference in specs for the SUPRIM X Classic compared to the RTX 4090 SUPRIM X.
