The long road to the UEFA Champions League final began with the first two qualifying rounds of the competition.

The first qualifying round comprises two two-legged ties involving the champions of the lowest-ranked in UEFA competition, with the highest-ranked half seeded.


First qualifying round draw (3/4 and 10/11 July)

The winners of those ties already know who they will face in the second qualifying round, when they are joined by countries ranked higher in UEFA competition
(except Liechtenstein).

In both draws, balls containing the seeded clubs were placed in one bowl, with balls of the unseeded clubs placed in another. A ball was taken from each bowl and placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, where they were shuffled. The first team drawn plays its first match at home, against the second team drawn.
