The DTH platform Digi TV has announced that it will no longer be carrying four HBO channels in the Czech Republic.In a statement, the platform said that it regrets that as of January 11 HBO, HBO2, HBO Comedy and Cinemax will be removed from its offer due to “unacceptable financial demands if the licensor, which would harm our society and especially you, our customers, through an unacceptable increase in retail prices.”
Digi TV is operated by Romania’s RCS/RDS and has a presence in six CEE countries including the Czech Republic.
In the Czech Republic, in competes with the DTH platforms Skylink, CS Link and UPC Direct, as well as a service operated by T-Mobile and launched late last year.
