(PR) Blue Prince's Lead Developer Explores Indie Project's Puzzle Mech
If you have ever found yourself in an unfamiliar room, staring at a closed door and wondering what lies beyond it, then you are already familiar with the mysterious driving force of [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. Will this door lead to a twisting passageway? A quiet bedroom? Or a grand ballroom? My name is Tonda Ros, an indie developer with a love for atmospheric games, and for the last eight years, I have been working on a game about a large manor and its many mysterious doors. Blue Prince was formed from big ideas from very different worlds. It has elements of mystery, strategy and discovery, merging the world of a first-person puzzle adventure with the drafting mechanics of a tabletop card game. It also launches April 10 as a day one PlayStation Plus Game Catalog title. Other launch platforms include: Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC ([Only registered and activated users can see links. But how exactly does the game work?
Floor plan drafting: when my own journey began almost a decade ago, I had one simple idea: "Every door is a choice." In a way, these five words sum up the entirety of Blue Prince. The estate of Mount Holly is not an ordinary house. This is a manor of shifting rooms and ever-changing expectations. And in this house, each door you open can lead to one of three different rooms. The choice is up to you. Do you want a storeroom to gain useful tools? A library to search for more clues? Or perhaps simply a long hallway, to grant yourself even more doors to continue your exploration? As you make your decision and open the door, you are instantly met with the room of your choosing.[Only registered and activated users can see links. An official announcement stated: "pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged." The vast majority of industry watchdogs reckon that company will be assessing an adjustment of launch day product MSRPs. Last week's North American presentation outlined price points of $449.99 and $499.99; for a standard package and a Mario Kart World Pack (respectively). Theorized adjustments could extend to physical copies of games, as well as accessories; e.g. the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].
Gamers further north—in the neighboring nation of Canada—were relieved about last week's alert being non-applicable to their market region. Up until yesterday, pre-orders were on track at CA$629.99 (base console) and CA$699.99 (with Mario Kart World). Unfortunately, the House of Mario's Canuck branch has confirmed that recent events have had a knock-on effect for local customers. As disclosed in a statement to MobileSyrup, Nintendo of Canada explained: "pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in Canada will not start on April 9, 2025 in order to align with the timing of pre-orders to be determined in the U.S....Nintendo will provide updated information at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged." MobileSyrup's report was updated yesterday evening; with links to social media bulletins posted by the regional arms of Walmart and GameStop. The early April filings were spotted by harukaze5719—evidence of this "official" leak was posted to social media this afternoon. The South Korean Radio Agency (RRA) registrations indicate an imminent arrival of cheaper offerings from the opposing teams—possibly within proximity of each other, time-wise. GIGABYTE's collection of forthcoming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB SKUs includes AERO, AORUS ELITE, EAGLE, GAMING, and WINDFORCE options.
By comparison, their Radeon RX 9060 XT portfolio is looking thoroughly threadbare—with the registration of two RDNA 4 GAMING OC cards; sporting 16 GB and 8 GB VRAM configurations. Lightmatter Unveils Six‑Chip Photonic AI Processor with Incredible Per
Lightmatter has launched its latest photonic processor, representing a fundamental shift from traditional computing architectures. The new system integrates six chips into a single 3D packaged module, each containing photonic tensor cores and control dies that work in concert to accelerate AI workloads. Detailed in a recent [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], the processor combines approximately 50 billion transistors with one million photonic components interconnected via high-speed optical links. The industry has faced numerous computing challenges as conventional scaling approaches plateau, with Moore's Law, Dennard scaling, and DRAM capacity doubling, all reaching physical limits per silicon area. Lightmatter's solution implements an [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] with analog gain control to overcome these barriers. During matrix operations, weights and activations are grouped into blocks sharing a single exponent determined by the most significant value, minimizing quantization errors.
The processor achieves 65.5 trillion 16-bit ABFP operations per second (sort of 16-bit TOPs) while consuming just 78 W of electrical power and 1.6 W of optical power. What sets this processor apart is its ability to run unmodified AI models with near FP32 accuracy. The system successfully executes full-scale models, including ResNet for image classification, BERT for natural language processing, and DeepMind's Atari reinforcement learning algorithms without specialized retraining or quantization-aware techniques. This represents the first commercially available photonic AI accelerator capable of running off-the-shelf models without fine-tuning. The processor's architecture fundamentally uses light for computation to address next-generation GPUs' prohibitive costs and energy demands. With native integration for popular AI frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow, Lightmatter hopes for immediate adoption in production environments.[Only registered and activated users can see links. Apple "Vision Pro 2" Components Reportedly Being Mass Produced in Chin
Since its [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], Apple's pricey Vision Pro mixed reality headset has not exactly attracted a mainstream audience. Roughly a year later, rumors of a (then) recently canceled successor appeared online—insiders posited that company engineers had pivoted onto the development of a cheaper alternative model. Vision Pro "Version 1.0" arrived with an intimidating $3499 price tag; thus eliminating interest from a wide swath of potential AR/VR headset enthusiast customers. Industry insiders reckon that Apple had "abruptly reduced production" of the current-gen model last October, with further whispers suggesting a complete cessation of manufacturing activities by the end of 2024. Yesterday, an ITHome article cited compelling claims made by supply chain insiders—the initiation of mass production for a speculated second generation "Apple XR/Vision Pro" device.
The online report stated that: "multiple independent sources (have) confirmed that the panels, shells and other key components of the second-generation Apple XR headset are already in production." Very specific leaked information indicates Lens Technology being the exclusive supplier of glass panel pieces, and Changying Precision tasked with the making of the next-gen model's casing. Additionally, several contract circuit manufacturers are supposedly "rushing to complete orders." Secretive figures posit that Apple will release its sequel mixed reality headset later on in 2025. Differing "expert opinions" have not yet determined whether this incoming set of fancy goggles will be the predicted "cheaper" model, or a proper "M5 SoC-powered" successor.[Only registered and activated users can see links. Insider Report Suggests Start of 1 nm Chip Development at Samsung, All
Samsung's foundry business seems to be busying itself with the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]—for possible mass production by the end of 2025, but company leadership will very likely be considering longer term goals. Mid-way through last month, industry moles posited that the megacorporation's semiconductor branch was questioning the future of a further out 1.4 nm (SF1.4) production line. Officially published roadmaps have this advanced technology rolling out by 2027. Despite present day "turmoil," insiders believe that a new team has been established—tasked with the creation of a so-called "dream semiconductor process." According to a fresh Sedaily news article, this fledgling department has started development of a 1 nm foundry process.
Anonymous sources claim that Samsung executives are keeping a watchful eye on a main competitor—as stated in the latest South Korean report: "there is a realistic gap with Taiwan's TSMC in technologies that are close to mass production, such as the 2 nm process, the company plans to speed up the development of the 1 nm process, a future technology, to create an opportunity for a turnaround." A portion of the alleged "1 nm development chip team" reportedly consists of veteran researchers from prior-gen projects. Semiconductor industry watchdogs theorize that a canceled SF1.4 line could be replaced by an even more advanced process. Sedaily outlined necessary hardware upgrades: "the 1.0 nanometer process requires a new technology concept that breaks the mold of existing designs as well as the introduction of next-generation equipment such as high-NA EUV exposure equipment. The company is targeting mass production after 2029." Samsung's current Advanced Technology Roadmap does not extend beyond 2027—inside sources claim that the decision to roll with 1.0 nm was made at some point last month.[Only registered and activated users can see links. Google Unveils Seventh-Generation AI Processor: Ironwood
Google has rolled out its seventh-generation AI chip, Ironwood, which aims to boost AI application performance. This processor focuses on "inference" computing—the quick calculations needed for chatbot answers and other AI outputs. Ironwood stands as one of the few real options to NVIDIA's leading AI processors coming from Google's ten-year multi-billion-dollar push to develop it. These tensor processing units (TPUs) are exclusively available through Google's cloud service or to its internal engineers.
According to Google Vice President Amin Vahdat, Ironwood combines functions from previously separate designs while increasing memory capacity. The chip can operate in groups of up to 9,216 processors and delivers twice the performance-per-energy ratio compared to last year's Trillium chip. When configured in pods of 9,216 chips, Ironwood delivers 42.5 Exaflops of computing power.
