NVIDIA confirmed today that it has taped out six distinct "Rubin" chips, which signals something more than a typical product refresh. Company CEO Jensen Huang, speaking during a visit to Taiwan, said NVIDIA already handed multiple Rubin designs to TSMC and that those dies are now entering fab qualification ahead of trial production. Rubin is intended to be a platform-level upgrade, rather than a simple GPU update, with changes extending across processors, networking gear, and interconnect silicon.
