NVIDIA today announced it is working with European nations, and technology and industry leaders, to build NVIDIA Blackwell AI infrastructure that will strengthen digital sovereignty, support economic growth and position the continent as a leader in the AI industrial revolution. France, Italy, Spain and the U.K. are among the nations building domestic AI infrastructure with an ecosystem of technology and cloud providers, including Domyn, Mistral AI, Nebius and Nscale, and telecommunications providers, including Orange, Swisscom, Telefónica and Telenor.

These deployments will deliver more than 3,000 exaflops of NVIDIA Blackwell compute resources for sovereign AI, enabling European enterprises, startups and public sector organizations to securely develop, train and deploy agentic and physical AI applications. NVIDIA is establishing and expanding AI technology centers in Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, the U.K. and Finland. TSMC is adjusting its global investment strategy in response to geopolitical pressures and changing market demands. Encouraged by the US government, the world's largest contract chipmaker has moved up completion dates for its Arizona fabrication plants by as much as six months. This shift is designed to address the growing domestic needs in defense, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing. Originally committed to $65 billion in US manufacturing, TSMC recently increased that total to $165 billion. The expanded plan includes three additional fabs, two advanced packaging facilities, and a research center, all of which are expected to begin operation by 2030. Company executives argue that on-site production will help alleviate supply-chain bottlenecks and reduce cost volatility for American customers, even though chips made in Arizona will carry a premium compared with those produced in Taiwan.

At the same time, TSMC's projects in Japan and Germany have encountered difficulties. In Kumamoto, Fab 1 has not reached its planned utilization levels, and persistent traffic and local infrastructure issues have delayed the start of construction for Fab 2. Some point to labor shortages and conservative order forecasts from automotive and electronics clients as additional factors. In Europe, a slowdown in auto production has weakened demand for semiconductor capacity. TSMC's joint venture with Bosch, Infineon, and NXP in Germany now faces potential delays as partner layoffs and declining sales of combustion engines undermine initial growth expectations. Despite these setbacks, Taiwan remains central to TSMC's operations, hosting nearly half of its nine facilities under construction. AMD late Friday released the latest version of AMD Software Adrenalin drivers. Version 25.6.2 Beta comes with optimization for "The Alters" and "FBC: Firebreak." It also adds FSR 4 support for "The Alters," "Delta Force," "Dragonkin: The Banished," and "RoadCraft." The drivers fix a handful new issues. To begin with an issue that causes Oculus Rift S HMD to put out a green tint on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs has been fixed. Stuttering and lower than expected performance noticed when using alt+tab to switch windows and streaming with Discord on machines with multiple monitors has been fixed.

An intermittent application crash or driver timeout observed when playing "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" with ray tracing enabled on Radeon RX 9060 XT has been fixed. An application crash observed when first launching "The Last of Us Part I" on RX 9060 XT has been fixed. Micron has informed its customers that its DDR4 memory products will reach the end of life in the coming quarters, with shipments expected to taper off over the next six to nine months. This announcement aligns Micron with the earlier plans of Samsung and SK Hynix to discontinue DDR4 production and focus on next-generation memory solutions, such as DDR5, LPDDR5, and high-bandwidth memory. In a recent interview, Micron's Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer, Sumit Sadana, acknowledged that the phase‑out comes at a time when demand for DDR4 remains unexpectedly strong. He noted that shortages of both DDR4 and LPDDR4 modules have driven spot-market prices to levels that, in some cases, exceed those of newer DDR5 products.

To address this imbalance, Micron will prioritize supply for long‑term partners in the automotive, industrial, and networking sectors, where product reliability and contract stability are critical. The retirement of DDR4 has been partly driven by competitive pressure from Chinese memory manufacturers, which have flooded the market with lower‑cost modules. Yet, these newcomers may face challenges in matching the quality, long-term support, and volume capabilities that established players provide.
