First worldwide DVB-T2 tests on 4K in Spain

Spain has become the first country in the world to test the second generation DVB-T2 under 4K format with 100 frames per second. A group of researchers in the University Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, along with the UK’s BBC, is doing the first tests of DVB-T2, significantly improving the most advanced formats currently used in commercial TV with 4096 x 2160 pixels (Full HD) against the current 1920 x 1080 (HD) with a frame rate of 100 per second instead of the current 50.
The transmissions has been made in the University’s laboratory. One of the conclusions is that its use will avoid simulcasting, thus reducing the costs as the same broadcast can be accessed through all current and future devices.
