Sky launches Sky Player TV

By Julian Clover | December 4, 2008 | 11:25 UK

Sky has given details of its online TV service that will be known as Sky Player TV. The Entertainment pack will initially include Disney Channel, British Eurosport, National Geographic Channel, Sky News, and Sky Sports News. It will be priced at £15 (€17.5) per month.

Later this month MTV Networks channels MTV One, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr will join the Entertainment Pack, with further channel launches also planned.

Customers can also upgrade to the Sky Sports family of channels for a total of £34 per month. The service can be accessed through any broadband enabled PC or Mac.

All Sky TV customers will continue to have access to Sky Player’s on-demand content while those with a Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband Max subscription will be able to access the channels at no additional charge.

Mac compatibility and streaming is also being introduced across the Sky Player for the first time. The service was developed with the support of Microsoft using its Silverlight and PlayReady technologies.
