ASUS announced that it has extended the warranty of its ROG Ally handheld game console (model: RC71L) in North America to 2 years. This would prove particularly useful for those intending to use the microSD card slot of the console, as a design oversight sees the card reader located too close to a thermal vent, and is known to cause memory cards to fail, and eventually even the card reader to. This extended warranty protects against failed card readers, but it doesn't cover fried memory cards. AMD has announced a new bug bounty program with prizes for individuals and public researchers. The company is partnering with the cloud security provider Intigriti on this new "bugs hunting campaign", this time, they have a better reward system with up to $30,000 in cash up for grab, while more people can take part. Bug bounties are not new in the industry, with modern hardware, bugs and issues have increased, this being a good way for companies to find vulnerabilities without spending too much on detection.

Individuals look for bugs, and then send a report to the company describing the bug and its impacts, AMD then gives prizes to the hunters based on factors like bug severity. It will be at least interesting to see what happens with AMD's new bug bounty program since public researchers can now take part.

ASRock is ready with the first Radeon RX gaming graphics card to feature a modern 12V-2x6 power connector, replacing the up to three 8-pin PCIe power connectors it took, to power a Radeon RX 7900 series graphics card. The ASRock RX 7900 series WS graphics cards are also the first 2-slot RX 7900 series graphics cards. They target workstations and GPU rendering farms that stack multiple graphics cards into 4U or 5U rackmount cases, with no spacing between 2-slot graphics cards. ASRock is designing cards based on both the RX 7900 XT, and the flagship RX 7900 XTX.

The ASRock RX 7900 series WS graphics cards appear long and no more than 2 slots thick. To achieve these dimensions, a lateral-flow cooling solution is used, which combines a dense aluminium or copper channel heatsink with a lateral blower. Remember we said these cards are meant for workstations or rendering farms? So the noise output will be deafening, at least up to datacenter standards. The most striking aspect of these cards of course is their 12+4 pin ATX 12V-2x6 power input, which is capable of drawing 600 W of continuous power from a single cable. AMD is debuting its Ryzen 9000 series "Granite Ridge" desktop processors powered by the "Zen 5" microarchitecture later this year. These chips are compatible with existing AMD 600-series chipset motherboards with a simple UEFI firmware update, but the company is also taking the opportunity to launch the AMD 800-series chipset family alongside these chips. The lineup will be led by the AMD X870E, followed by the X870. These two chipsets should launch immediately alongside the new processors, but will later be joined by the AMD B850 and B840. There's no entry-level chipset planned, the AMD A620 will continue to hold the fort for AMD here. There is an interesting new mix of product differentiation, according to a leaked GIGABYTE slide scored by VideoCardz.

If you recall, the X670E and X670 were differentiated by a lack of Gen 5 PCI-Express x16 PEG slots on the X670, which instead was limited to Gen 4 on the PEG slot. The X670 still had Gen 5 NVMe slots attached to the CPU, and had practically the same I/O features as the X670E, including the same counts of downstream PCIe Gen 4 general purpose lanes. Both the X670E and X670 are 2-chip solutions, in that the second chip is a connected to the general purpose PCIe lanes of the first chip, which in turn is connected to the processor. Things are going to change with the 800-series. The top-spec X870E will be a 2-chip solution, with PCIe Gen 4 general purpose lane counts resembling the X670E; but the X870 is a single-chip solution that more closely resembles the B650E in I/O. The X870 (non-E) now gives you Gen 5 PCI-Express x16 PEG, just like the X870E and the B650E, and at least one Gen 5 x4 NVMe slot attached to the CPU, but has fewer downstream Gen 4 general purpose PCIe lanes than the X670. Both the X870E and X870 assure USB4 connectivity, and support CPU overclocking. Although it has been rumoured for a little while (https://www.techpowerup.com/320813/amd-readies-ryzen-5000xt-line-of-socket-am4-processors) now that AMD might be launching Ryzen 5000XT CPUs, that rumour just got some added fuel to the fire courtesy of @CodeCommando_ on X/Twitter. The leaker provided a somewhat pixelated screenshot of two new AM4 CPUs, namely the Ryzen 9 5900XT and the Ryzen 7 5800XT. This is one less CPU compared to the Ryzen 3000XT series that AMD launched in 2020 and it looks like the benefits on offer are similar as well. Both chips are 105 Watt parts and have a maximum boost speed of 4.8 GHz, but this is where the similarities end. The Ryzen 9 5900XT has a rather odd SKU name, as it has the same max boost clock as the Ryzen 9 5900X, but the same core and cache count as the Ryzen 5950X.

The Ryzen 7 5800XT on the other hand is a pretty straightforward 100 MHz higher clock speed SKU over the Ryzen 7 5800X, which makes one wonder why AMD even bothered. According to VideoCardz, we're looking at a US$359 MSRP for the Ryzen 9 5900XT, with the Ryzen 7 5800XT coming in at US$249, making both a potentially interesting enough upgrade option for someone that is still using an older AM4 CPU. The pricing and CPU details are said to have been revealed at a pre-Computex media briefing, so it's highly likely that the information is correct. An alleged company slide by motherboard maker GIGABYTE leaked a few interesting tidbits about the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 "Granite Ridge" Socket AM5 desktop processor powered by the "Zen 5" microarchitecture. To begin with, we're getting our first confirmation that the "Zen 5" common CCD used on "Granite Ridge" desktop processors and future EPYC "Turin" server processors, is built on the 4 nm EUV foundry node by TSMC, an upgrade from the 5 nm EUV node that the "Zen 4" CCD is built on. This could be the same version of the TSMC N4 node that AMD had been using for its "Phoenix" and "Hawk Point" mobile processors.

AMD is likely carrying over the client I/O die (cIOD) from the "Raphael" processor. This is built on the TSMC 6 nm DUV node. It packs a basic iGPU based on RDNA 2 with 2 compute units; a dual-channel DDR5 memory controller, and a 28-lane PCIe Gen 5 root complex, besides some SoC connectivity. We begin our tour with the TGR Lena, an ergonomic keyboard with a Split Alice tenkeyless layout. This TKL layout isn't exactly 80%, as the keyboard lacks a function key row. To the left of the QWERTY cluster is a set of macro keys, the keyboard on display had keycaps from Zalman's Rubrehose collection. The TGR Jane V3 Rubrehose Edition is a limited production run keycap set meant for buyers of the GMK Rubrehose Edition TKL keyboard.

Switching gears, and the only new cooling product we could spot at Zalman's Computex 2024 booth, are the new ZM-AF120 series case fans. These come in black and white trims, both with frosted white impellers, and addressable RGB LED illumination. The fan takes in 4-pin PWM for its main function, turns between 600 and 2,000 RPM, pushing 69.12 CFM of airflow, at a maximum noise output of 29.7 dBA. It takes in 3-pin ARGB for the lighting. Zalman Z10 DS Black is quite the eye-catcher at the 2024 Computex. The HYTE Y70 Touch built a whole new niche of cases that utilized its 5th side (front-left corner edge) to have a touchscreen that spanned the height of the case. The Zalman DS Black takes things up a notch. While it may not be a 5-sided case like the Y70, it uses the front-facing glasshouse to position a 15.6-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio, and 1080p resolution. This display connects to your graphics card, and can be used as a second monitor, ideally dedicated to displaying widgets, gadgets, monitoring tools, or visualizations. Unlike the display in the Y70 Touch, Zalman's display isn't a touchscreen. If you don't need the monitor inside the case, Zalman provides a kit with which the panel can be turned into a regular desktop monitor, and get replaced in the case with a regular mesh intake.

The Z10 DS Black is an ATX mid-tower that measures 474 mm x 220 mm x 488 mm (LxWxH), with clearances for graphics cards up to 39.5 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 17.3 cm in height. The horizontally partitioned case features 8 fan mounts, three 120 mm along the top, two side-facing, two along the bottom, and one at the rear. The Zalman P40 Snow White is a design evolution over the pillarless cases we've come across this year. While most such cases tend to have glass panels along the front and left side, without a pillar between them, the P40 Snow White even does away with the metal top panel, so you have glass on three sides, without pillars where they meet each other. Kailh is probably the most popular mechanical keyboard switch manufacturer after Cherry in terms of design wins. The company has a formidable lineup of keyboard switches across all popular form-factors, and technologies. We begin our tour of their Computex 2024 booth with the Chocolate switch. The casing of this switch appears like the trapezoid pieces of a chocolate bar. This switch is typically meant for low-profile keyboards. There are three variants of these switches based on actuation force, actuation point, and key travel.

Kailh brought both Hall Effect switches and Magnetic (Reed) switches to Computex. They're both analog key switches that let you configure actuation point, and have several applications to the analog input, but have different mechanisms from each other. Kailh has several variants of both kinds of switches based on tactile feedback. Next up, are Kailh's digital (regular) key switches, which include Box-type conventional mechanical switches, and optical keyboard switches. The optical switch has the least latency among all key switches. Jonsbo brought several innovative cases to the 2024 Computex. The N5 is a dream case for those planning to build a graphics rendering farm. The horizontally partitioned cube-shaped case features an airy upper chamber with room for an E-ATX motherboard, which is shown in the example build to have four lateral-blower graphics cards; while the lower compartment has room for as many as twelve 3.5-inch drives, enough to store all your lossless assets. You can install graphics cards up to 35 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 16 cm in height. The lower front panel is detachable without tools, so you can access the HDDs.

The T6 is an SFF case fit for Mini-ITX and Mini-DTX builds. It measures 185 mm x 223 mm x 332 mm (WxDxH), and comes with a detachable wood handle. A portion of the front panel is finished in a matching tone of wood. There's room inside for graphics cards up to 21.5 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 16 cm in height. Drive bays include two 2.5-inch mounts. The C6-ITX is a slightly expanded variation on the same theme, except with more clearances. The case measures 202 mm x 266 mm x 295 mm, with room for graphics cards up to 25.5 cm in length, and CPU coolers up to 17 cm in height. AeroCool Spectro Vision L360 AIO cooler is available in black or white. It stands out with its impressive 4.3" IPS LCD screen (with adjustable angle) capable of displaying CPU temperature, CPU and memory load, and more via the Control Center app such as JPEG, PNG, BMP, and MP4 uploads. The large 360 mm radiator has expanded fins and comes equipped with 120 mm ARGB fans. Huion is a 12+ year old company that specializes in professional graphics tablets competitive to Wacom in features, resolution, and pricing. The company brought four of its latest graphics tablets to Computex 2024. We begin our tour with the 3rd Gen Huion Kamvas 13, a 13-inch graphics tablet with 16:9 aspect ratio, 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, and a 120% sRGB wide color gamut. Its high precision surface supports 16,384 pressure sensitivity levels. A Huion PW600L digital pen comes included, which features PenTech 4.0.

The Kamvas Pro 19 is a large-format tablet for drafting, that's 19-inch, with 16:9 aspect ratio. It offers 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution, and 120% sRGB color gamut. It includes a set of PW600, and PW600S digital pens. The touch technology is electromagnetic + capacitive. The Inspiroy Fergo M is a graphics tablet without a display, with 16,384 levels of pressure sensitivity, with over 300 PPS report rate, and tilt support. It is wireless, with its battery lasting 24-hours. Connectivity supported is Bluetooth 5.0. Lastly, there's the Kamvas Studio 16 tablet PC, which features a similar touch technology to the Kamvas Pro 19, but with a 16-inch 2K (2560 x 1440) format. The company didn't specify color gamut. We don't believe we're mistaken in saying that the Thermaltake booth at this year's Computex was among the largest and most crowded, both in terms of products and visitors. Among the products that left a strong impression, we'd like to highlight The Tower 600, 250 Mini, TR-100 Mini-ITX case series, and the extensive range of coolers and accessories. It's difficult to determine the most successful Thermaltake product from Computex 2024, but surely each of us can find at least one that resonates with our preferences.

Mistel brought some of its latest ergonomic gaming and productivity mechanical keyboards to Computex 2024. The Alpha Rhino MD600 is a true-wireless Split Alice compound keyboard. The set connects to your PC as two keyboards, each with half the keyset. You even get two separate palm-rests. As a keyboard set the MD600 has a 60% layout. You can join the two halves and lock them in place; or you can split them to your preferred angle for the best possible ergonomics. There's no cable running between the two halves. In terms of hardware, the MD600 with several variants of Cherry MX key switches that are hot-swappable, topped with PBT double-shot keycaps. The well of the keyset has sound absorbing foam. In terms of connectivity, you have a choice between USB, Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz RF. The keyboard packs a 2,000 mAh lithium battery, which should give it several weeks of heavy usage on a charge.

The MD750 Delight is a conventional (single piece) 75% format mechanical wireless keyboard, with 87 keys, a programmable rotary knob, and a 2-inch LED screen. The keyboard features RGB backlighting, and its 4,000 mAh battery lasts up to 60 days of heavy use. You get hot-swappable Cherry MX keys with PBT Double Shot keycaps, three connectivity modes, and support for Cherry Profile. The AirOne is an ultra low-profile keyboard that's just 9 to 14 mm thick, and uses Cherry MX ULP tactile-click key switches. It comes in a 65% (68-key) layout, with a CNC milled aluminium body. The switches are topped by a super-slim ABS keycap set.
