Phil Spencer has professed that he is a proud owner of a Lenovo Legion Go (https://www.techpowerup.com/313094/gaming-on-the-go-lenovo-unveils-a-new-legion-gaming-handheld-device-and-accessories-that-untether-pc-gaming) handheld gaming PC, but has experimented with other mainstream portable devices in recent times. Polygon conducted an "extensive" interview (https://www.polygon.com/24108660/xbox-handheld-console-phil-spencer-interview) with the CEO of Microsoft Gaming—headlines have been generated from this tête-à-tête, mostly focusing on his wishlist of additional digital storefronts (https://www.eurogamer.net/phil-spencer-wants-more-digital-storefronts-on-xbox) appearing on Xbox platforms. Ecosystem familiarity seem to be a very important aspect (in Spencer's opinion)—something that the current crop of handhelds lack: "I want my Lenovo Legion Go to feel like an Xbox. I brought (the Legion Go) with me to GDC. I'm on the airplane and I have this list of everything that makes it not feel like an Xbox. Forget about the brand. More like: Are all of my games there? Do all my games show up with the save (files) that I want? I'll tell you one (game) that doesn't right now—it's driving me crazy—is Fallout 76. It doesn't have cross-save."

He continued: "I want to be able to boot into the Xbox app in a full screen, but in a compact mode. And all of my social (experience) is there. Like I want it to feel like the dash of my Xbox when I turn on the television. (Except I want it) on those devices." Industry rumors (https://www.techpowerup.com/320583/new-xbox-development-kit-certified-by-south-korean-agency) have swirled around the possible existence of an in-development Xbox handheld—Spencer confirmed that his hardware design team, headed up by Roanne Sones, has weighed up: "different hardware form factors and things that (they) could go do...What should we build that will find new players? That will allow people to play at times when they couldn't go play (in the past)?"https://tpucdn.com/img/BdKaL44tkwB4JGP5_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/BdKaL44tkwB4JGP5.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/tK7dGuaUn0KaRbnN_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/tK7dGuaUn0KaRbnN.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/rmHh351zgghKIZ9T_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/rmHh351zgghKIZ9T.jpg)

Earlier today, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte met with China's President Xi Jinping—fresh reportage (https://apnews.com/article/china-netherlands-mark-rutte-dutch-asml-nato-a173a05114c9f13c23306e2ea393943b) has focused on their discussion of technological trade restrictions. Holland's premier had to carefully navigate the conversation around recent global tensions, most notably the prevention of fancy ASML chipmaking equipment (https://www.techpowerup.com/319156/asml-expresses-concern-about-geopolitical-tensions) reaching the Chinese mainland. CCTV (China's state broadcaster) selected a couple of choice quotes for inclusion in an online report—Xi remarked that: "the Chinese people also have the right to legitimate development, and no force can stop the pace of China's scientific and technological development and progress." Specific manufacturers and types of machinery were not mentioned during the meeting between state leaders, but media interpretations point to recent ASML debacles (https://www.techpowerup.com/320060/asmls-future-growth-in-netherlands-uncertain-amid-immigration-concerns) being entirely relevant, given the context of international relationships.

ASML is keen to keep Chinese firms on its order books—according to AP News: "China became ASML's second-largest market, accounting for 29% of its revenue as firms bought up equipment before the licensing requirement took effect." Revised licensing agreements have stymied the supply of ASML most advanced chipmaking tools—Chinese foundries (https://www.techpowerup.com/320181/smic-prepares-for-3-nm-node-development-requires-chinese-government-subsidies) have resorted to upgrading existing/older equipment (backed by government funding) in efforts to stay competitive with international producers. Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) is reportedly racing to get natively designed EUV machines patented (https://www.techpowerup.com/320777/huawei-and-smic-prepare-quadruple-semiconductor-patterning-for-5-nm-production) (in co-operation with Huawei). Post-meeting, Rutte commented (to press) on the ongoing technology restrictions: "what I can tell you is that... when we have to take measures, that they are never aimed at one country specifically, that we always try to make sure that the impact is limited, is not impacting the supply chain, and therefore is not impacting the overall economic relationship."https://tpucdn.com/img/IZF7r1JW2ltiqeRj_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/IZF7r1JW2ltiqeRj.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/dK26U7XeliEsyWOE_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/dK26U7XeliEsyWOE.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/wvCKvDlvXTC7pFEV_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/wvCKvDlvXTC7pFEV.jpg)

Samsung debuted its Mach-1 generation of AI processors (https://www.techpowerup.com/320621/samsung-prepares-mach-1-chip-to-rival-nvidia-in-ai-inference) during a recent shareholder meeting—the South Korean megacorp anticipates an early 2025 launch window. Their application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design is expected to "excel in edge computing applications," with a focus on low power and efficiency-oriented operating environments. Naver Corporation was a key NVIDIA high-end AI customer (https://www.techpowerup.com/280905/nvidia-announces-new-dgx-superpod-the-first-cloud-native-multi-tenant-supercomputer-opening-world-of-ai-to-enterprise) in South Korea (and Japan), but the leading search platform firm and creator of HyperCLOVA X LLM (reportedly) deliberated on an adoption alternative hardware (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-client-switches-to-intel-cpus-due-to-gpu-shortage-price-hikes) last October. The Korea Economic Daily believes that Naver's relationship with Samsung is set to grow, courtesy of a proposed $752 million investment: "the world's top memory chipmaker, will supply its next-generation Mach-1 artificial intelligence chips to Naver Corp. by the end of this year."

Reports from last December (https://www.techpowerup.com/316979/samsung-and-naver-developing-an-ai-chip-claiming-to-be-8x-more-power-efficient-than-nvidia-h100) indicated that the two companies were deep into the process of co-designing power-efficient AI accelerators—Naver's main goal is to finalize a product that will offer eight times more energy efficiency than NVIDIA's H100 AI accelerator. Naver's alleged bulk order—of roughly 150,000 to 200,000 Samsung Mach-1 AI chips—appears to be a stopgap. Industry insiders reckon that Samsung's first-gen AI accelerator is much cheaper when compared to NVIDIA H100 GPU price points—a per-unit figure of $3756 is mentioned in the KED Global article. Samsung is speculated to be shopping its fledgling AI tech to Microsoft and Meta.https://tpucdn.com/img/3BCIL2mzC0eO6EHH_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/3BCIL2mzC0eO6EHH.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/LfIz0s8yUFiGFt0s_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/LfIz0s8yUFiGFt0s.jpg)

MSI's new handheld gaming PC—Claw—has (so far) experienced a scattershot global launch and review (https://www.techpowerup.com/320102/msi-claw-a1m-lands-at-retail-in-usa) program. Initial impressions from embargo-busting Chinese evaluators indicated that the Intel Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" APU-based devices struggled to keep up with 2023's lineup of AMD-powered handhelds—namely the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. YouTube tech channel, Retro Tech Dad, has acquired two MSI Claw SKUs for testing purposes—the more expensive model sports an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-ultra-7-155h.c3307) processor, while the basic variant makes do with a Core Ultra 5 135H (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-ultra-5-135h.c3419). The plucky new-ish competitors—updated with freshly-released drivers—were pitched against both ASUS ROG Ally variants (Ryzen Z1 Extreme (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-z1-extreme.c3276) and Z1 vanilla (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-z1.c3287)), but the main takeaway from Retro Tech Dad's testing activities is the higher-end Claw's apparent inability to outpace its weaker sibling.

Once again, we see these Intel "Meteor Lake" mobile chips falling behind AMD's popular Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU—the standard Ryzen Z1 seems to be a closer rival. VideoCardz (https://videocardz.com/newz/msi-claw-with-core-ultra-5-135h-matches-155h-version-in-gaming) has analyzed Retro Tech Dad's initial findings—these figures: "suggests that the Core Ultra 5 135H performs better than the Core Ultra 7 155H in low-TDP settings. However, overall, both APUs provide nearly identical performance." It is worth watching Retro Tech Dad's full video coverage—he posits that Intel's silicon is capable of trading blows with equivalent AMD parts, but current drivers could be holding back this unrealized potential. The cheapest Claw SKU seems to be the de facto choice (for Team Blue enthusiasts), given its demonstrated ability to keep up with higher-priced options within MSI's handheld family.https://tpucdn.com/img/mI8HFOmrQgAdVXob_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/mI8HFOmrQgAdVXob.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/Jlc7tVJ7RXzTQAhd_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/Jlc7tVJ7RXzTQAhd.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/Qv8YdIJ4oEgrzIk2_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/Qv8YdIJ4oEgrzIk2.jpg)

It's official: NVIDIA delivered the world's fastest platform in industry-standard tests for inference on generative AI (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/ai-data-science/generative-ai/). In the latest MLPerf benchmarks, NVIDIA TensorRT-LLM—software that speeds and simplifies the complex job of inference on large language models—boosted the performance of NVIDIA Hopper (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/technologies/hopper-architecture/) architecture GPUs on the GPT-J LLM nearly 3x over their results just six months ago. The dramatic speedup demonstrates the power of NVIDIA's full-stack platform of chips, systems and software to handle the demanding requirements of running generative AI. Leading companies are using TensorRT-LLM to optimize their models. And NVIDIA NIM—a set of inference microservices that includes inferencing engines like TensorRT-LLM—makes it easier than ever for businesses to deploy NVIDIA's inference platform.

Raising the Bar in Generative AI
TensorRT-LLM running on NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPUs (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/h200/)—the latest, memory-enhanced Hopper GPUs—delivered the fastest performance running inference in MLPerf's biggest test of generative AI to date. The new benchmark uses the largest version of Llama 2, a state-of-the-art large language model packing 70 billion parameters. The model is more than 10x larger than the GPT-J LLM first used in the September benchmarks. The memory-enhanced H200 GPUs, in their MLPerf debut, used TensorRT-LLM to produce up to 31,000 tokens/second, a record on MLPerf's Llama 2 benchmark. The H200 GPU results include up to 14% gains from a custom thermal solution. It's one example of innovations beyond standard air cooling that systems builders are applying to their NVIDIA MGX designs to take the performance of Hopper GPUs to new heights.https://tpucdn.com/img/KG40vDYBKpQyW8ZZ_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/KG40vDYBKpQyW8ZZ.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/VNN23rXJUD2EEViQ_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/VNN23rXJUD2EEViQ.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/ZY9EMpuJkfaucMju_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/ZY9EMpuJkfaucMju.jpg)

Speculated lower-end Intel second generation Arc GPUs popped up via SiSoftware Sandra database entries (https://www.techpowerup.com/320794/intel-arc-battlemage-gpus-appear-on-sisoftware-sandra-database) around mid-March—evaluation samples are likely in the hands of trusted hardware partners. Yesterday, momomo_us (https://twitter.com/momomo_us/status/1773396489844515059) happened upon another interesting shipping manifest, following a series of AMD-related leaks (https://www.techpowerup.com/320980/alleged-amd-ryzen-granite-ridge-engineering-samples-pop-up-in-shipping-manifests). The latest list reveals five "Battlemage" products—three utilizing the BMG-21 GPU, and the remaining two being based on the BMG-10 design. These identifiers have appeared in older leaks, although the latter has been viewed in place sight—chez Intel Malaysia's Failure Analysis Lab (https://www.techpowerup.com/312970/intel-arc-alive-well-for-next-gen-battlemage-gpu-spotted-during-malaysia-lab-tour).

Previous leaks suggest that these second generation Arc models (Xe2) reside within a "High-Performance Graphics" (HPG) discrete GPU family—the Xe2-HPG BMG-10 range is likely targeting an "enthusiast" market segment, while the Xe2-HPG BMG-21 tier is rumored to offer mid-tier performance. Intel staffers have expressed confidence about a possible late 2024 launch window. Back in January (https://www.techpowerup.com/317722/intel-fellow-confirms-arc-battlemage-gpu-on-track-for-2024-launch), Tom "TAP" Petersen revealed that the Arc hardware team had already moved onto third-gen "Celestial" GPU endeavors: "I'd say about 30% of our engineers are working on Battlemage, mostly on the software side because our hardware team is on the next thing." The first-gen deck has not been cleared fully it seems—the Alchemist family could be joined by two new variants (https://www.techpowerup.com/320865/intel-patch-notes-reveal-arc-a750e-a580e-skus) in the near future.https://tpucdn.com/img/tTaekn06OJBmOdZi_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/tTaekn06OJBmOdZi.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/hQxqbgYc7ffqaU5e_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/hQxqbgYc7ffqaU5e.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/4oyGRAOH3bGvT8lZ_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/4oyGRAOH3bGvT8lZ.jpg)

AMD's Instinct family has welcomed a new addition—the MI388X AI accelerator—as discovered in a lengthy regulatory 10K filing (submitted to the SEC). The document reveals that the unannounced SKU—along with the MI250, MI300X and MI300A integrated circuits—cannot be sold to Chinese customers due to updated US trade regulations (new requirements were issued around October 2023). Versal VC2802 and VE2802 FPGA products are also mentioned in the same section. Earlier this month, AMD's Chinese market-specific Instinct MI309 (https://www.techpowerup.com/319966/amd-stalls-on-instinct-mi309-china-ai-chip-launch-amid-us-export-hurdles) package was deemed to be too powerful for purpose by the US Department of Commerce.

AMD has not published anything about the Instinct MI388X's official specification, and technical details have not emerged via leaks. The "X" tag likely implies that it has been designed for AI and HPC applications, akin to the recently launched MI300X accelerator (https://www.techpowerup.com/316466/amd-delivers-leadership-portfolio-of-data-center-ai-solutions-with-amd-instinct-mi300-series). The designation of a higher model number could (naturally) point to a potentially more potent spec sheet, although Tom's Hardware (https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/artificial-intelligence/amd-lists-mystery-mi388x-ai-gpu-in-official-docs-as-barred-from-china-sales-instinct-chip-hasnt-been-announced-yet) posits that MI388X is a semi-custom spinoff of an existing model.https://tpucdn.com/img/lD88hWFBXDnLEZba_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/lD88hWFBXDnLEZba.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/cAuvBhnmF8QhlwjX_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/cAuvBhnmF8QhlwjX.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/rYuAIgv12OPtrBBf_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/rYuAIgv12OPtrBBf.jpg)

Arm China is making strides in the AI accelerator market with its new neural processing unit (NPU) called Zhouyi. The company aims to integrate the NPU into low-cost domestic CPUs, potentially giving it an edge over competitors like AMD and Intel. Initially a part of Arm Holdings, which licensed IP in China, Arm China took on a new strategy of developing its own IP specifically for Chinese customers a few years ago. While the company does not develop high-performance general-purpose cores, its Zhouyi NPU could become a fundamental building block for affordable processors. A significant step forward is the upcoming addition of an open-source driver for Zhouyi to the Linux kernel. This will make the IP easy to program for software developers, increasing its appeal to chip designers.

Being an open-source driver, the integration in the Linux kernel brings assurance to developers that Zhouyi NPU could be the first in many generations from Arm China. While Zhouyi may not directly compete with offerings from AMD or Intel, its potential for widespread adoption in millions of devices could help Arm China acquire local customers with their IP. The project, which began three years ago with a kernel-only driver, has since evolved into a full driver stack. There is even a development kit board called EAIDK310, powered by Rockwell SoC and Zhouyi NPU, which is available on Aliexpress and Amazon. The integration of AI accelerator technology into the Linux ecosystem is a significant development, though there is still work to be done. Nonetheless, Arm China's Zhouyi NPU and open-source driver are essential to making AI capabilities more accessible and widely available in the domestic Chinese market.https://tpucdn.com/img/tnaRQ1ZGQvQ8eKwI_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/tnaRQ1ZGQvQ8eKwI.jpg)

Earlier this month, the world lost a one-of-a-kind creative talent with the news of Akira Toriyama's passing. While Dragon Ball will always be Toriyama-sensei's best-known work, he leaves behind a legacy full of many other imaginative worlds across games, anime, and manga. Before leaving us, he worked with Bandai Namco to flesh out one of his short manga creations further: Sand Land (https://www.bandainamcoent.com/games/sand-land). Alongside a new anime series, Toriyama-sensei gave input on a videogame adaptation of Sand Land that would allow players to explore this unique world for themselves.

The classic manga Sand Land lives on in Bandai Namco's new game, which ventures beyond where the original story concludes. Read on to find out what new adventures await our mech-powered demon hero in the wetlands, caves, and Forest Land. Speaking of Forest Land, we also have a reveal of new gameplay from the woodland biome.https://tpucdn.com/img/dJEoGMorn8x51veb_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/dJEoGMorn8x51veb.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/ZGfuhQD8PvQGIQd2_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/ZGfuhQD8PvQGIQd2.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/tsg2hJHrQ90SgNtk_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/tsg2hJHrQ90SgNtk.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/ViVUDLkDaqRiHWRR_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/ViVUDLkDaqRiHWRR.jpg)

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 D (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4090-d.c4189) GPU was launched late last year in China—this weakened variant (of the standard RTX 4090 (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4090.c3889)) was designed with US trade regulations in mind. Chinese media outlets have toyed around with various custom models for several months—January 2024 evaluations indicated a 5% performance disadvantage (https://www.techpowerup.com/317844/galax-geforce-rtx-4090d-tested-5-slower-than-standard-rtx-4090) when lined up against unrestricted models. The GeForce RTX 4090 D GPU is a potent beast despite a reduced core count and restricted TDP limit, but Chinese enthusiasts have continued to struggle with the implementation of worthwhile overclocks (https://www.techpowerup.com/319991/zotacs-gigantic-geforce-rtx-4090-d-pgf-oc-edition-card-gets-reviewed). HKEPC—a Hong Kong-situated PC hardware review outlet—has bucked that trend.

The mega-sized flagship ZOTAC RTX 4090 D PGF (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/zotac-rtx-4090-d-pgf.b11481) model has the technical credentials to break beyond the expected overclock increase of "2 to 5%," courtesy of a powerful 28-phase power PCB design and 530 W max. TGP limit. The Expreview team pulled a paltry 3.7% extra bit of performance from ZOTAC China's behemoth. In contrast, HKEPC wrangled out some bigger numbers with a sampled ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4090 GAMING OC graphics card—matching unrestricted variants: "it turns out that NVIDIA only does not allow AIC manufacturers to preset overclocking, but it does not restrict users from overclocking by themselves. After a high degree of overclocking adjustment, the ROG Strix RTX 4090 D actually has a way to achieve the performance level of the RTX 4090 FE."https://tpucdn.com/img/QD4F2MpU4MV8XUud_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/QD4F2MpU4MV8XUud.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/o1UNQ4DeMcnbJkKe_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/o1UNQ4DeMcnbJkKe.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/8mDT3gLSn7kpUh0j_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/8mDT3gLSn7kpUh0j.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/ON9NlC8RbJ2toxsP_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/ON9NlC8RbJ2toxsP.jpg)

"The Earth is Blue," said Yuri Gagarin, the first human to journey into space. With two-thirds of its surface covered in water, Earth is a planet that exuberates its blue radiance in the dark space. However, today, the scarcity of water is a challenge that planet Earth is confronted with. For some, this may be hard to understand. What happened to our blue planet Earth? To put in numbers, more than 97% of the water on Earth consists of seawater, with another 2% locked in ice caps. That only leaves a mere 1% of water available for our daily use. The problem lies in the fact that this 1% of water is gradually becoming scarcer due to reasons such as climate change, environmental pollution, and population growth, leading to increased water stress. 'Water stress' is quantified by the proportion of water demand to the available water resources on an annual basis, indicating the severity of water scarcity as the stress index rises. Higher stress indexes signify experiencing severe water scarcity.

The semiconductor ecosystem, unsustainable without water
Because water stress issues transcend national boundaries, various stakeholders including international organizations and governments work to negotiate water resource management strategies and promote collaboration. UN designates March 22nd as an annual "World Water Day" to raise awareness about the severity of water scarcity running various campaigns. Now, it's imperative for companies to also take responsibility for the water resources given and pursue sustainable management.https://tpucdn.com/img/GRAfHgOBgfEUQz2T_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/GRAfHgOBgfEUQz2T.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/LlQNiJoUIaH46PsX_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/LlQNiJoUIaH46PsX.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/Bk74R00pPPt6O2Ar_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/Bk74R00pPPt6O2Ar.jpg)

A CPU-Z screenshot has been shared by YuuKi_AnS (https://twitter.com/yuuki_ans/status/1773255790771556611)—the image contains details about an alleged next-gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor engineering sample (ES). The hardware tipster noted in (yesterday's post) that an error had occurred in the application's identification of this chunk of prototype silicon. CPU-Z v2.09 has recognized the basics—an Intel Granite Rapids-SP processor that is specced with 80 cores, 2.5 GHz max frequency, a whopping 672 MB of L3 cache, and a max. TDP rating of 350 W. The counting of 320 threads seems to be CPU-Z's big mistake here—previous Granite Rapids-related leaks have not revealed Team Blue's Hyper-Threading technology producing such impressive numbers.

The alleged prototype status of this Xeon chip is very apparent in CPU-Z's tracking of single and multi-core performance—the benchmark results are really off the mark, when compared to finalized current-gen scores (produced by rival silicon (https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/granite-rapids-shows-up-on-cpu-z-boasting-80-cores-and-672mb-of-l3-cache)). Team Blue's next-gen Xeon series is likely positioned to catch up with AMD EPYC's deployment of large core counts—"Granite Rapids" has been linked to the Intel 3 foundry node (https://www.techpowerup.com/319345/intel-xeon-granite-rapids-wafer-pictured-first-silicon-built-on-intel-3), reports from last month suggest that XCC-type processors could be configured with "counts going up to 56-core/112-threads." Micron is prepping next-gen "Tall Form Factor" memory modules, designed with future enterprise processor platforms in mind—including Intel's Xeon Scalable "Granite Rapids" family. Industry watchdogs posit that Team Blue will be launching this series in the coming months.https://tpucdn.com/img/jEaaH0Hi5INGapkN_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/jEaaH0Hi5INGapkN.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/4sVB1gBRfe8Xwpag_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/4sVB1gBRfe8Xwpag.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/xsMHJDusPrUZf68e_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/xsMHJDusPrUZf68e.jpg)

Embracer Group has entered (as of March 28) into an agreement to divest Gearbox Entertainment, for a consideration of USD 460 million (SEK 4.9 billion) to Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. ("Take-Two"). The proceeds from the deal will, upon closing, significantly reduce net debt, earnout obligations and capex. Embracer retains selected companies, including Gearbox Publishing San Francisco (to be renamed), with the publishing rights to the Remnant franchise, the upcoming Hyper Light Breaker and other notable unannounced game releases.

"Yesterday's announcement marks the result of the final structured divestment process and is an important step in transforming Embracer into the future with notably lower net debt and improved free cash flow. Through the transaction, we lower business risk and improve profitability as we transition to becoming a leaner and more focused company. After evaluating several options for Gearbox, I am happy that we have reached a solution that is in the best interest of all stakeholders. Randy and the team have been great team members throughout the past years, and I would like to thank them all for that. As one of the world's greatest games developers, I am confident that Gearbox will continue to innovate and thrive in their new home within Take-Two," says Lars Wingefors, co-founder and CEO of Embracer.https://tpucdn.com/img/FAB96ipY1KnMdvzB_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/FAB96ipY1KnMdvzB.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/4fJOY52rjYdT86cl_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/4fJOY52rjYdT86cl.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/hNX06BfipaBJUYL2_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/hNX06BfipaBJUYL2.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/rpnDesrQ2IZAiBgT_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/rpnDesrQ2IZAiBgT.jpg)

AMD's entry-level Radeon RX 7600 (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7600.c4153) GPU launched last May—critical reception (https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-7600/) was lukewarm, and Team Red enthusiasts found more compelling "budget" options within the preceding RDNA 2 generation. AMD's board partners rolled out customized Radeon RX 7600 8 GB cards—as planned—but the reference design was a scarcity around launch time. As pointed out by TPU's resident graphics card reviewer extraordinaire, W1zzard, a "Made by AMD" (MBA) model was lined up for direct sale via official AMD online stores, "as well as through its board partners, with minimal re-branding." Plans were (apparently) scuppered by a discovery of 8-pin power cable insertion issues—review outlets informed AMD about these problems prior to launch.

According to a fresh VideoCardz (https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-rx-7600-mba-reference-design-available-for-purchase) report, AMD has started to offer its Radeon RX 7600 reference design (https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/amd-radeon-rx-7600.b11208) through official European channels: "despite the initial promise of offering the RX 7600 directly to gamers through their webstore, AMD has struggled to generate significant interest in the card nearly a year after its launch. Furthermore, there hasn't been a substantial change in pricing, with the card still retailing at $269 (in the US). Turns out, the Radeon RX 7600 MBA is now available in Germany." Several European shop portals display prices of €295 (~$318) and €300 (~$324)—at the time of writing. Potential customers will have to weigh up the benefit of AMD's extra time spent on ironing out the reference design's past issues, versus market-tested + custom-cooled partner models.https://tpucdn.com/img/bJOFz4LgERG25XHI_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/bJOFz4LgERG25XHI.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/USUhiJ24kbdPWxYL_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/USUhiJ24kbdPWxYL.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/M3T6njPkc2n91hPx_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/M3T6njPkc2n91hPx.jpg)

Intel's "Meteor Lake" mobile processor family launched last December (https://www.techpowerup.com/316756/intel-core-ultra-meteor-lake-processor-lineup-overview), with an initial selection comprised of eleven "Core Ultra" SKUs. This week, internet sleuths have stumbled on some new additions—Team Blue has seemingly rolled out new models without much fanfare. Benchleaks (https://twitter.com/BenchLeaks/status/1773292262811631941) discovered an intriguing Geekbench Browser entry (https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/5499473) that detailed a "Google Rex" Android device specced with an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U (https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/core-ultra-5-115u.c3556) CPU. The benchmark database displays two errors—namely the incorrect detection of 10 cores and 10 threads. Team Blue's official product page (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/237505/intel-core-ultra-5-processor-115u-10m-cache-up-to-4-20-ghz/specifications.html) lists 8 cores and 10 threads—specifically a configuration housing two P-Cores, four E-Cores, and two LP-Cores.

Amusingly, the official datasheet specifies that the Core Ultra 5 115U launched alongside the debut batch of Meteor Lake parts. VideoCardz (https://videocardz.com/newz/the-slowest-meteor-lake-spotted-intel-core-ultra-5-115u-with-8-cores) posits that the chip's weaker iGPU specs separate it from the rest of the pack: "its designation as 'Ultra' might be misleading. In reality, even its graphics have been scaled down to 3 Xe-Cores, making it the sole SKU in the entire lineup with fewer than 4 Xe-Cores. The NPU is still intact and seems to be working at the same speed as the most powerful Meteor Lake chip. This suggests that the 115U could potentially excel as an AI accelerator, prioritizing AI tasks over other functions." This entry-level SKU is not fully out in the wild, but the existence of test platforms (via Geekbench Browser entries) semi-proves that Team Blue and its hardware partners are readying new portable products.https://tpucdn.com/img/qh1kIAfwYpNaKgv8_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/qh1kIAfwYpNaKgv8.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/cisLz1fIV5kwrgPH_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/cisLz1fIV5kwrgPH.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/edoFI4r1rFr26EjH_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/edoFI4r1rFr26EjH.jpg) https://tpucdn.com/img/RmF4tfRApuP9CVya_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/RmF4tfRApuP9CVya.jpg)

Capcom has released the newest update for Dragon's Dogma 2 on PC and PlayStation 5, while Xbox will get it in next few days. On the PC, the update improves quality when DLSS Super Resolution is enabled, and fixes various bugs. Earlier, Dragon's Dogma 2 Devs have already announced an investigation for PC performance and stability issues (https://www.techpowerup.com/320690/dragons-dogma-2-devs-investigating-pc-performance-stability-issues), specifically frame rate and various crashes, bugs and the option to start a new game, which has been addressed with this update.

According to the release notes release by Capcom, PC specific updates include improved quality when NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution is enabled and a fix for an issue related to the display of models under some specific settings. On both PlayStation 5 and the PC, the update adds the option to start a new game when save game data already exists, changes the number of "Art of Metamorphosis" items available in Pawn Shops to 99, makes the "dwelling quest" available earlier in the game, as well as fixes various bugs and text display issues. On the PlayStation 5, the update also adds the option to switch on/off the Motion Blur and Ray Tracing, as well as to set the maximum frame rate to 30 FPS. Capcom also notes that motion blur and ray tracing options should not affect frame rate significantly, and that improvements to frame rate are planned for future updates. The release notes also say that updates to Xbox Series X/S version of the game are planned in the next few days.https://tpucdn.com/img/tBfkW8rNJpQVDas7_thm.jpg (https://www.techpowerup.com/img/tBfkW8rNJpQVDas7.jpg)
