Ultima ploaie de meteoriti din Rusia plus alte evenimente de genul acesta din trecut au determinat NEOSSat din Canada (Near-Earth Object Surveillance Satellite) sa lanseze acest satelit-radar pentru detectarea la timp a unor corpuri ceresti din apropierea Terrei! Acesta e construit de Microsat Systems Inc Canada si sistemul nu va fi mai mare decat al unei valize obisnuite, fiind propulsat pe o orbita hellio-sincora! Va avea rolul de a detecta asteroizii care de regula de pe Terra sunt greu de observat prin intermediul telescoapelor!
